Opening for 2024-25 School Year Description: District Security Guard QUALIFICATIONS: The District Security Guard shall:
Hold Bachelor's degree or equivalent and valid New Jersey driver's license with no serious infractions Have prior experience in law enforcement Have knowledge and understanding of security measures, crowd control, fire prevention, and security assessment procedures. Have good moral character and integrity and demonstrate initiative and sound judgment. Demonstrate strong written and oral communications skills Demonstrate the ability to serve as a positive role model and work with young adults and school-aged children in a supportive and caring manner. Demonstrate the ability to function as a positive public relations representative when interacting with staff, administration, parents, and the community. Have the ability to work flexible hours as required and assigned. Meet all established requirements of any required psychological and physical examination (including a drug evaluation, hearing test, and color vision test), to be administered by a medical service selected by the District. The Board reserves the right to require a psychiatric assessment instead of a psychological assessment as a condition of employment and/or ability to carry a handgun as part of their service to the school district. Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education Meet other qualifications of academic, professional, and personal excellence that the Dunellen Board of Education may specify. FIREARM REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain an active Retired Police Officer Permit to Carry (E-RPO) issued by the Superintendent of the State Police permitting the retired officer to carry a handgun in accordance with N.J.S.A. 2C:39-6(l)(4). Maintain a RED SORA for Armed Security Officer Certification issued by the NJSP Private Detective Unit. Maintain a personal handgun, with the cost and maintenance being the sole responsibility of District Security Guard, that complies with the following specifications:Only a semi automatic, 9mm or 40-caliber pistol may be used. Proof that the handgun was used for the District Security Guard's semi-annual firearms qualification. The firearm must be in excellent working order and free from any defects in operation or wear. No modifications shall be made to the handgun's specifications set forth by the manufacturer. Any type of commercially-available ammunition that meets the requirements of the Retired Law Enforcement Officer Program (RPO) may be used. Carry a district-reimbursed Level III Retention Duty Holster. Maintain a firearm that is worn as open carry that is identified as part of a full security personnel uniform. -Full time
