District Special Education FacilitatorJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 09/24/2024 POSTING NUMBER: 047333 LOCATION: Admin Special Education - 877 POSITION TITLE: District Special Education Facilitator JOB DESCRIPTION: Serve as a Special Education District facilitator and staff developer for the Department of Special Education in the assigned area. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Helps to plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum and instructional programs for students with disabilities.Assist teachers, at their request, in organizing classrooms for effective learning for students.Serves as a consultant in the selection of instructional supplies, equipment, and books for students.Assist in the planning and delivery of staff development opportunities to help raise the level of instructional performance for students.Supports appropriate use of technology in the teaching/learning process for students.Recommends ways in which curriculum and instruction can be adjusted to meet the special learning needs of struggling learners.Participates in proposed and on-going curriculum projects.Performs classroom visitations and demonstrations for teachers and/or administrators.Works with individuals and committees on topics of curriculum and instruction.Inform teachers and administrators of major trends and developments in instruction and curriculum.Orients new teachers to instructional programs/curriculum.Prepares necessary inventories, budget requests, and similar documents.Take leadership role in the implementation and revision of curriculum and lesson planning.Works with students and models classroom instruction as needed. Maintain confidentiality.Regular attendance.All other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE:
- Three years successful classroom teaching experience required
- Experience in staff development presentations required
- Experience in facilitating and/or working with teams (i.e. team leader, curriculum writing teams, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's Degree in education and /or relevant content area
- Texas valid teaching certificate
- Special Education Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, staff development and universal design for learning
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
- Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for students with disabilities
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
