Primary Purpose: Works with district and school staff, students, parents, and the community to support physical and psychological safety efforts district wide. Serves as an instructional leader in development and program improvement and provides services to meet the unique needs of students who are identified as at risk. Education / Certification:
Masters preferred in Social Work or a related field. Licensure required (LBSW/ LCSW/ LMSW) Previous experience working with high-risk student population. Special Knowledge / Skills: Ability to evaluate and monitor program effectiveness and program compliance. Knowledge of best practices in trauma informed care, crisis response, substance abuse, and the effects on student learning and behavior. Exhibits organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of casework methods and individual/group counseling skills Awareness of and ability to access community resources. Experience / Other Requirements:? Three years of experience providing services in an educational?setting.? Experience developing student support plans with a multi-disciplinary team.? Experience presenting training to large and small groups.? Personal cell phone is required to handle District related business, including after hours, or when away from the office on District business.? Major Responsibilities and Duties: Coordinates the implementation of TEXSHEP (Texas Support for Homeless Education Program) grant award and ensures grant compliance. Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records and other required documents required for programs/grants assigned. Coordinates with school counselors, nurses, teachers, attendance officers, as well as community agencies and health care centers to identify various eligible program participants. Provides support for all student support services programs. Serves as intake officer/social worker and student / family advocate. Provides crisis support and counseling to students and their parents. Informs students and parents of their rights and responsibilities under federal and state law including compulsory attendance. Provide support to the McKinney Vento Program and maintain records for reporting for Pregnancy, Education and Parenting (PEP), Homeless and Foster Services. Consultation Provides training for staff, parents, community and students related to programs served, Trauma Informed Care, etc. Consults?parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people to enhance their work with students.? Maintains?a communication system that effectively collects and disseminates information to other professionals as appropriate.? Develops?and maintains?positive working relationships with other school professionals and representatives of community resources. Uses?an effective referral process to assist students and others to use special programs and services (i.e.?counseling, mental health, etc.).? Administration? Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and Professional Code of Ethics. Complies with all District routines and regulations.? Maintains a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.? Communicates effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.? Professional Adheres to ethical and legal standards and models?of?behavior that is professional, and responsible. Participates in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.? Responsible for properly maintaining District records, adhering to all policies set forth by the District for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.? Performs other duties as assigned.?
