Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services and building level administrators. Tutors assist students in achieving student learning objectives by working directly with identified students who are not attending school for various reasons. The successful candidate will possess:
- Content specific knowledge and skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organizational ability
- Attention to detail
- Proven experience working with elementary school age children preferred
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Keep abreast of current theory, research and best practices in reading
- Seek out professional development
- Collect/analyze both formative and summative data under the guidance of the literacy teachers and collaborate with teachers about results for purposes of planning instruction
- Use data to shape instruction and make decisions about tiered interventions
- Provide direct instruction to students who are in a tiered intervention
- Use district programs and protocols to provide instruction for students in tiered interventions
- Participate in MTSS process and share student data and progress towards goals
- Communicate with parents and families
- Provide families with strategies and resources they can use at home

- Appropriate CT Elementary Teaching Certification
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals
- Strong understanding of the developmental needs of young adolescents
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License
