Job Summary and Qualifications

The Division Womens and Childrens Outreach Program Educator enhances professional practice and the provision of quality patient care by providing evidence-based, quality educational programs and activities. The Division Womens and Childrens Outreach Program Educator will focus on education related to activities that are preferred within standards of Neonatal & Maternal designation standards. The Division Womens and Childrens Outreach Program Educator functions as an educational and clinical resource for the Outreach Program. Educational services include the implementation and instruction of an established curriculum designed to meet the needs of the identified service facilities. The educator will function as a liaison to facilitate perinatal health, care for client, patient, and their families, and/or participants of health issues related to women and children. Demonstrates knowledge and practical application of the theories and principles of adult education. Demonstrates professional growth, initiative, and creativity.

  • You will identify and design educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences, including licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel, in alignment with evidence-based practice content.
  • You will develop activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill, and practice. Plan educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement.
  • You will collaborate with clinical education team members to evaluate and adjust educational programs based on evaluations and feedback.
  • You will utilize the educational process to improve professional practice and promote safe, quality, compassionate patient care.
  • You will incorporate organizational values/culture in educational programs, ensuring alignment with the organizations policies/procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • You will demonstrate an understanding of adult educational theory and the ability to apply evaluation methodologies, (i.e., Kirkpatrick) into courses and curriculum to refine clinical programs.
  • You will support new ideas and innovation in educational design. Utilizes current best evidence.
  • You will identify resources for problem-solving. Provide staff with resources and education to implement changes.
  • You will share experience in planning and decision-making to achieve the desired results. Communicate professionally using appropriate methods.
  • You will collaborate with inter-professional teams as assigned. Identify opportunities for collaboration, and initiate collaborative efforts.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to utilize evidence-based simulation models to design, implement, evaluate, and standardize educational programs for staff in the use of clinical simulation, debriefing and assessment.
  • You will consider and communicates impact of activities on other departments/professions/communities.
  • You will contribute to organizational initiatives/strategic planning as appropriate.
  • You will identify and develop strategies to facilitate a continuous process of maturation through lifelong learning.
  • You will utilize novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff. Identifies and provides opportunities for skill enhancement and mastery.
  • You will assist staff to identify areas for individual growth in current role. Promote the achievement of specialty certifications.
  • You will provide expertise in identifying professional development needs of individual staff. Direct staff to career advancement resources.
  • You will participate in lifelong learning to promote continuing personal development.
  • You will contribute insights and feedback for succession planning.
  • You will demonstrate an understanding of adult educational theory and the ability to apply evaluation methodologies, (i.e., Kirkpatrick) into courses and curriculum to refine clinical programs.

  • You will stay abreast of external factors and opportunities impacting healthcare, including political, legislative and regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and advancements in healthcare delivery. Understands the competitive landscape. Support the organization in strategic positioning to respond to changing healthcare dynamics and market environments.
  • You will provide requested data for assigned facility to assist in completing monthly operations; provide information on variances and action plans to address gaps.
  • You will understand impact on department performance in accordance with established budget, including the utilization of staffing, supplies, and equipment.
  • You will participate in the annual budget process, providing input.

What qualifications you will need:
  • This role requires 75%+ travel. Office will be located in Austin, TX.
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing Required
  • Masters Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education, or other clinical field Preferred
  • 5+ years experience in nursing specialty in an acute care setting Required
  • 3+ years experience in clinical education preferred
  • Currently licensed as a registered nurse and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • ALS required w/30-day grace period
  • BLS required w/30-day grace period
  • NRP required
  • Electronic Fetal monitoring certification required
  • AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor required w/ 6-month grace period
