Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Summary/Primary Purpose: Serve as a liaison and coach for Western (WST) division in the areas of community facing Salvation Army youth programming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the divisional youth ministry coach for Community Center Programming, Teen programming and Vacation Bible School.
  • This role is to be the resident expert in these three areas, interacting with officers and corps youth leaders on a regular basis.
  • Manages the VBS resources held at DHQ, send out Orange and other vendor VBS resources to corps, collect and manage corps VBS reports, compiling into divisional report for THQ.
  • Serves as the liaison to THQ and divisional coach for TSAO, SA Gaming and Boys Girls Club Partnerships and participates in all THQ calls regarding these three initiatives.
  • Responsible to manage SAGaming events at Youth Councils and other events as directed, as well as play monthly on SA Gaming sessions, creates devotions for the SA Gaming Discord page and responds to posts and prayer requests on Discord as directed.
  • Responsible to maintain social media communications and Youth Department websites with information and posts of current activities and upcoming events.
  • Participate in all leadership team calls, cadence meetings and events to expand Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of America (SABGCA) sites across the division.
  • Provides technical assistance to WST Corps for the development and implementation of programming, Before/After School and Day Camp Programs including disseminating information on current licensing policies/laws for the communities in which the Western Division operates.
  • Responsible to provide information to Corps on regulations and state policies regarding non-residential camp programs annually.
  • Coach Corps with day camp, before and after school programs and is responsible for annual reviews of Community Center and Day Camp programs and conducts on-site walk throughs of large community center programs and Corps with after school programs every two years.
  • Performs site visits to corps community centers and meets in person with corps officers, community officials for licensing and corps youth leaders.
  • Participates in annual youth consultation meetings and community center consultation process.
  • Assist DYS with various projects, to include coordinating and scheduling divisional and youth reviews and tasks such as routine correspondence and requests.
  • This role is required to attend major events, retreats and seasonal programs such as Rallies Day; Officers Councils; Youth Councils; TSAO camp and a minimum of three (3) weeks overnight at The Salvation Army Western Plains Camp.
  • This role will be required to work hours outside of the normal workday, to include holidays and weekends, and occasional travel.
  • Driving is an essential function of the position.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises retreat staff and volunteers.Education and/or Experience: Associate degree (AA) or 3-5 years of programmatic or youth ministry experience.Qualifications:The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft software, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and databases. The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, attention to detail and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Become a basic archery instructor trainer through the NASP / TSAO program Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
