The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking to hire a highly organized and detail-oriented Licensed Registered Nurse, Corrections Nurse Trainee. This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a valid Illinois License and good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out nursing assignments pursuant to the direction of medical personnel in a correctional setting. Essential Functions Performs on-the-job training in a variety of nursing care functions, such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs and examining individuals in custody utilizing nursing assessment skills and techniques. Receives formal training on how to assess patient progress. Receives hands-on training in proper procedures to set up, operate and monitor special equipment, such as respirators, and suction devices, AED, oxygen.
