Growth Oriented 3. Customer First 4. Can Do Attitude POSITION OVERVIEW We seek a reliable and experienced Dock Crew Lead to join our team. As a Dock Crew Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our dock crew and ensuring efficient and safe loading and unloading of shipments. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS This position may involve any of the following: LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cross-trained in various work areas as a well-rounded Team Lead and reliable point of contact for Assistant Plant Manager.
  • Conflict management, excellent listening skills, and receptive to feedback or constructive criticism.
  • Provides feedback on performance and attendance for disciplinary or promotional opportunities.
  • Leads by example by exemplifying the values of The Plant Company as a role model for their team.
  • Responsible for communicating with the Assistant Plant Manager about needs in their work area.
  • Observe workers to detect inefficient or unsafe work procedures or to identify problems, initiating corrective action as necessary.
  • Set the standard for adherence to SOPs and ensure all team members are accountable to SOP requirements.
  • Read inventory records, orders, or shipping schedules to determine daily activities.
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement and provide feedback and recommendations on continuous improvement to management.
  • Drive or operate farm machinery, such as forklifts and tuggers, to transport plants or supplies.
Dock
  • Supervise and train dock crew members on loading and unloading procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate cart inventory and notify management when reorders are necessary.
  • Responsible for all final prep operations of shipments, including boxing, palletizing, and cart loading.
  • Inspect equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Communicate effectively with Operations team members to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Shipping
  • Receive, distribute, and collect daily pack plans, QC checklists, and BOLs.
  • Distribute appropriate paperwork promptly each morning to the dock team.
  • Oversight over Quality Assurance personnel and adherence to pre-shipment quality assurance standards for timely and accurate shipments.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the shipping team to ensure orders are appropriately placed on correct carts, shippers, etc.
  • Communicate with the Assistant Plant Manager on estimated readiness of outbound shipments for carrier pickup.
  • Adhere to the pack plans provided and ensure accuracy in partnership with sales.
  • Project management skills to ensure timely operations and workflow of shipping and receiving.
Receiving
  • Maintain organization of warehouse and dock.
  • Packing slips verified and tracked for accuracy, including marking set-down shipment locations.
  • Provide immediate notification to appropriate personnel of inaccuracies, damages, or defects to incoming goods.
  • Responsible for verifying paperwork for receiving and providing paperwork to appropriate personnel.
Requirements REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Self-starter with the ability to problem solve and good decision-making skills.
  • Ability to do repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and high-quality standards.
  • Positive attitude and teamwork approach to get tasks done.
  • Ability to determine causes of operating errors and decide what to do about them.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Bilingual- Spanish/English preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in a dock or warehouse environment.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including humidity, various outdoor temperatures, and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the greenhouse.
