Construction Engineering and Inspection of Transportation projects. This work entails providing the owner with Quality Control/Quality Assurance by providing inspection, testing, material sampling and oversight of contractor forces during construction to make sure that product is being constructed to the project specifications and quality standards.
The intern will be taught: Plan reading, specifications interpretation, industry standards for inspection, testing and sampling of materials, and documentation of tasks assigned.
JOB DESCRIPTION:Entry Level Construction Inspector Entry Level Construction Inspector monitors in an entry level capacity, the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for roadway, structure, and bridge construction projects, under the direction of a Construction Manager or designee. Entry Level Inspector performs work of routine difficulty in a beginner capacity. Entry Level Inspector inspects excavations, drainage facilities, safety, environmental, and traffic control devices, and road surfaces and structures by comparing work performed to plans and specifications. Maintains project records including daily diaries, workbook, and materials records. Receives on-the-job and required agency classroom training to obtain designated highway material certifications. Entry Level Construction Inspector is expected to have a working knowledge of basic mathematics including computation of linear and cubic measurements; a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and learn and apply new information and concepts.
REQUIREMENTS:Must have skills in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers, including use of email, internet, Microsoft Office programs.
