Our domestic staff works with expectant parents who have decided to place their baby for adoption as well as those who are already parenting but have decided to place their child(ren) for adoption. They also work with the hopeful adoptive families to screen and prepare them. The ultimate goal of our Domestic Adoption Program is to connect birth families with adoptive families in North and South Carolina to find the right home for every child.Visit christianadopt.org to learn more about the mission of Christian Adoption Services (CAS).Job Title: Triad Region Domestic Adoption Coordinator (DAC) at Christian Adoption Services (CAS)Location: Greensboro (Piedmont / Triad, NC covering Rowan, Guilford and Alamance County)Method to Apply: bchcareers.orgSUMMARYChristian Adoption Services (CAS) is a ministry of the Baptist Children's Homes of NC (BCH). The Triad Region Domestic Adoption Coordinator (DAC) shall be responsible for coordinating and planning the services and resources affecting children and their families under the supervision of the Director of Domestic Adoptions. The DAC shall be responsible for intake services and for providing case management for expectant/ birth parents and extended family members as deemed appropriate. Our domestic adoption program currently serves the states of North and South Carolina. Each Domestic Adoption Coordinator works in their assigned regional location, nearest to where they reside. This position is hiring for the Piedmont/ Triad region of NC.QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work OR
  • Master's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university OR
  • Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year directly related experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience.
  • Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning. It is also defined as prior experience in family and children's services, adoption, or intercountry adoption.

  • Professes to be Christian believer and submits an individual Statement of Faith, Acknowledgement and Pledge
  • Has no criminal record that would adversely affect his or her ability to work with children and adults
  • Demonstrates sufficient resilience so as to be able to perform sensitive duties assisting children and families that may or may not have experienced trauma
  • Demonstrates support for the philosophy and goals of Christian Adoption Services, Inc (CAS). and Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. (BCH)
  • Demonstrates conduct that is professional and in accordance with CAS and BCH
  • Complies with and conduct themselves in accordance with the North Carolina Licensing Rules for Child Placing and the NASW Code of Ethics
  • He or she also must have good organizational skills and to be able to carry out his or her duties in a timely manner
  • Possesses valid drivers' license and safe driving record
  • Must have the capability to manage, plan, organize, implement, monitor and maintain agency programs as well as adhere to accreditation standards of N.C. and S.C. licensing requirements
  • Meets the general qualifications for employment as outlined in the agency's personnel policies
  • Meets qualifications for employment as a Domestic Adoption Coordinator according to the rules and regulations established by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and Christian Adoption Services, Inc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for intake services
  • Assists CAS staff workers in the development and implementation of an effective modern adoption education program
  • Coordinates services with area organizations which communicate with the target population (i.e. women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy)
  • Makes recommendations to the Director of Domestic Adoptions for the acceptance of specific children into the agency's foster care program
  • Offers and presents modern adoption education to organizations serving expectant women
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervision:
  • Prepares for and participates in regular supervisory conferences
  • Participates in 90-day and annual staff performance evaluations
  • Keeps supervisor informed on current status of total work responsibilities
Policies and Procedures:
  • Represents the agency's philosophy, purpose, and programs to groups, individuals, and referral agencies in a professional and objective manner
  • Complies with and conduct themselves in accordance with the North Carolina and South Carolina Licensing Rules for Child Placing and the NASW Code of Ethics
  • Carries out all duties in accordance with the rules and regulations established by the North Carolina Department of health and Human Services, Christian Adoption Services, Inc. policies and procedures (specifically the CAS Employee Manual and CAS Program Policies and Procedures Manual and the CAS Pregnancy Caseworker's Manual).
Professionalism/Teamwork:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to work as a member of the Adoption Services team
  • Has knowledge of and supports the roles of other team members
  • Respects the right of the team to be involved with the child and his/her family
  • Shares with their team members information necessary for adoption decision making
  • Participates as a team member in team meetings and other staff meetings
  • Participates in ongoing monitoring of effectiveness of the team's functioning
  • Researches and conducts staff training on appropriate subjects as assigned
  • Participates in the In-Service Prospective Adoptive Family Training
  • Respects the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of staff members and children in care and strives to create a positive relationship within CAS and BCH
  • Participates in the agencies' Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program as needed.
Clients:
  • Provides casework for expectant/birth parents and extended family members as deemed appropriate
  • Conduct Intake Summaries
  • Provides modern adoption education for expectant mothers and provides case management before, during and after birth
Record Keeping:
  • Maintains Case Notes for each client
  • Efficient in computer skills with a willingness to learn case management data base system.
  • Efficient in Word, Excel and Google Docs/Sheets
Knowledge and Training:
  • Continually increases knowledge and skills by taking steps necessary to stay in touch with current trends in the field of adoption as relates to children and families
  • Obtains a minimum of 24 hours annual professional training related to adoptions
  • Has the necessary knowledge and skills necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position
  • Demonstrates a knowledge level of current trends in the area of services to families and children
  • Develops a pool of external resources for supporting services on an as needed basis
  • Demonstrates and implements a working knowledge of skills in working
EQUIPMENT:Ability to work with general office equipment such as computers and electronic communication devices, and operate necessary software as appropriate for the work. Must be able to drive motor vehicles of various configuration so as to perform the above stated duties.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, write and complete necessary documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, service recipients, licensing and other oversight contacts, and various other stakeholders, in a variety of situations and formats.CONTACT WITH OTHERS:Regular contact with colleagues in all departments, as well as with outside individuals and groups; should represent Christian Adoption Services, Inc. and Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. in a positivemanner. Contacts outside of the agency where proper handling of situations is of utmost importance as the agencies' image could be affected.MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITORY DEMAND:Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and ability to draw conclusions. Must be able to productively relate to and interact with individuals facing a variety of mental and emotional health situations such as are involved with providing Christian Adoption Services programming.
