This in turn negatively impacts fellow employees through lowered morale and / or lost income opportunities.Job Summary:The Parts Counter Person is responsible for performing a variety of customer service, and stocking duties related to the receiving, sale and delivery of parts and accessories that contribute to the efficient, safe, and profitable operation of the dealerships parts department.Job duties for the Parts Counter Person include but are not limited to:
- Acts as a good will ambassador for the dealership by promoting professionalism and displaying excellent customer satisfaction skills.
- Maintains efficient communications within the department, as well as between departments. Promotes harmony and a team spirit with all the other departments.
- Looks up and distributes parts to technicians and counter customers, insuring parts are billed out correctly. Assists service advisors in delivering parts to technicians in a timely manner.
- Follows prescribed cash, credit, and check processing procedures of the dealership. Processes cores, warranties, and new return merchandise as required at a point of sale.
- Codes and bills out external vendor's invoices.
- Stays current on all factory training, keeping certifications updated and in the current year. Attends training as prescribed by management to maintain proficiency in his/her job description.
- Performs a variety of customer service, and stocking duties related to the receiving, sale and delivery of parts.
- Helps to keep parts department clean and free of debris.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner following all company safety guidelines and policies.
- Performs other duties as requested or required.
Qualifications:Preferred two years in a dealership parts environment. Good communication skills, negotiating skills, basic accounting skills, multi-tasking skills and computer skills are a must. High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Dealertrack computer experience preferred.Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:Extended working hours may be required, which may include working at nighttime or weekends. Weather conditions may vary depending on the season. Parts Department employees work indoors and sometimes in or around the service department which is often noisy with some dust and fumes. There is potential for exposure to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning material or other toxic materials commonly found in motor vehicle service departments, some of which may be considered health hazards. Standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, handling, pushing, pulling and heavy lifting up to 50lbs. Wages: $40,000 to $70,000 DOE
