Donor Herdsman Description:

A reputable, long-standing, high-end cattle breeding operation based in South Dakota is in need of a Donor Herdsman. This person will be responsible for helping to manage the day-to-day operations of a company dealing with some of the best cows on the continent. The job itself will be to oversee the wellbeing of customer cattle, help with AI and embryo transplant work, and assist in ranch maintenance. This is the ideal position for someone with strengths in cattle care and breeding practices who thrives on schedules and routine.

The company has a history of long-standing employees with most having worked there anywhere from 10-40 years stemming from their policy of treating others how they would want to be treated and earning their employee's loyalty. They also provide competitive pay and benefits.

Donor Herdsman Responsibilities:

  • Take care of cows for big name clientele as if they are your own
  • Artificial insemination and embryo transplant work
  • Flushing cows and administering synchronization shots
  • Make sure cows are properly fed, watered, provided mineral, and given exercise
  • Prepared to treat every day as if it's show day to be able to accomodate clientele visits
  • Keep the ranch and facilities well-kept and maintained

Donor Herdsman Requirements:

  • Must have a personality capable of dealing with high-end clientele
  • Extensive experience with artificial insemination
  • Strong background overseeing herd health practices
  • Effective communicator
  • History of reliable and trustworthy prior employment
