* A Master's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Food & Nutrition, Food Science/Safety, Public Health, Human Development, Financial Management, Housing, or related area.

* A Bachelor's degree is acceptable for a Public Service Provisional appointment (see Additional Requirements for more information on this provisional appointment).

Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) program in the geographic area providing education and outreach programs in the areas of family, food, health, home, money, and related subject matter areas. The role will focus on prevention of chronic disease, increased financial literacy skills, and food safety and preservation. It collaborates with other agencies and community groups to plan and implement educational programs, provides leadership for Program Assistants in delivering FACS programs, and utilizes the expertise of advisory groups, community leaders, public officials and representatives of intended audiences to analyze data, identify needs, and assist in developing educational programs. It targets specific audiences for educational programs addressing critical issues identified in plan of work and implements the CAES Civil Rights/Equal Opportunity plan. It also develops and conducts relevant interdisciplinary programs with other staff members based on critical issues.

This position requires frequent night meetings, some weekend work, and attendance at out-of-county meetings. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable private vehicle for official duty travel are required.

Additional Requirements

Progression towards earning an advanced degree is expected while in a provisional faculty position. This provisional faculty classification is offered for no more than three years without review. You may apply for a regular service faculty appointment upon completion of an advanced degree or successful progression through the public service promotion process. * Utilizes the expertise of Dooly/Pulaski Counties Program Development Teams, community leaders, community agencies, public officials and representatives of intended audiences to identify needs and assist in developing educational programs

* Develops a FACS plan of work that is equitable in meeting the needs of the varied county socioeconomic situations. Targets specific audiences such as low income and youth at risk for educational programs addressing critical issues identified in plan of work

* Implements the CAES Civil Rights/Equal Opportunity plan and ensures that clientele understand that UGA Extension offers its educational programs, assistance, and materials to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation or protected veteran status

Percentage Of Time 20 Duties/Responsibilities

* Utilizes current research data and information on emerging issues in program development and teaching

* Develops and teaches educational programs to clientele based on the previously determined needs of the community, focusing on FACS programming issue areas of food & nutrition, food safety, housing, childcare and consumer resource management.

* Collaborates with other staff in FACS, 4-H and ANR program areas to develop and conduct programs based on critical issues

* Collaborates with other agencies, university personnel and community groups to implement programs.

* Utilizes a variety of teaching methods as appropriate for each audience.

* Develops a variety of media to further reach the needs of the community and expand the public's knowledge of Extension FACS programs.

Percentage Of Time 40 Duties/Responsibilities

* Maintains records of program and event attendance for reporting purposes.

* Reports programming activities at county, district and state levels.

* Evaluates effectiveness of educational programs.

* Seeks financial opportunities, grants, etc. to help fund programming in FACS program area.

* Budgets and manages allocated funds for equipment, supplies, travel and other program support.

Percentage Of Time 20 Duties/Responsibilities

* Participates in professional education development, in-service training, professional organizations and other development opportunities.

* Provides leadership for volunteers, para-professionals, and teen leaders in delivering FACS and 4-H programs

* Demonstrates personal interest and involvement in community by participating in and supporting civic/community activities and organizations and networking with community leaders

* Maintains a professional image.

* Regularly participate in staff conferences

* Assists staff with day to day operations of Cooperative Extension county office by answering the phone, greeting visitors (ONLY as needed).

* Other duties as assigned by the County Coordinator, SW District FACS Program Development Coordinator, SW District Director and other State FACS Faculty.
