Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

2nd Shift Monday-Friday 2pm-1030pm

Drives a tractor-trailer combination, usually short distances, to pick up full trailers from customers, or deliver pallets to customers. Daily receives assignments from management regarding assigned route. Drives truck applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways. Completes paperwork at customer site verifying delivery and retrieval of pallets. Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition. Maintains driver log according to U.S.DOT (FMSCA) regulations. May assist workers in loading and unloading truck.

Work requires operator to sit for long periods of time. Trucks must be operated with extreme care, adhering to company safety procedures at all times.

DOT Drivers must have a valid CDL A license.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• DOT Drivers need to have a High School Diploma or equivalent education level as minimum academic qualifications. They also must attend a training program from a technical or vocational school in order to learn suitable skills and knowledge to obtain the Commercial Driver´s License (CDL).
• Have an acceptable motor vehicle record
• Must be able to pass a physical compliant to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Standards
• Must not have been convicted of a felony involving the use of a motor vehicle, a crime using drugs, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or hit-and-run driving that resulted in injury or death.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid license
