Job Description:

This internship opportunity will expose the candidate to the culture and working environment of Downstream Health and Environmental issues regarding the oil and gas industry. They will learn about API, health research, and environmental regulations. In addition, the internship will provide training and mentorship for the intern with a professional interest in these areas.

Projects and Tasks

  • Understand API's Downstream mission, policies, and member service responsibilities
  • Track research-relevant news (air pollution and health), and published literature in order to make suggestions for tracking issues and solutions
  • Review past research results and testing materials to ensure recordkeeping requirements are being met
  • Support the Health Research Group in coordinating API-sponsored research for communication and outreach
  • Learn and become proficient in national and international environmental health policies (e.g., Environmental Protection Agency risk management process)
  • Engage with other departments and outside organizations to provide service to research projects

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or graduate school
  • Enrolled in a Master of Public Health or Environmental Science program

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 25 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%
