The Program carries out its responsibilities through three bureaus: Compliance & Enforcement, Licensing, and Legal.The Work You Will Do:The dynamic individual interested in joining a dynamic team will provide guidance to inspectors responsible for inspecting and investigating the manufacturing, distributing, and sale of drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics in the State of Florida. This position will be responsible for enforcing Chapter 499, Florida Statutes, the Florida Drug and Cosmetic Act (the “Act”), the administrative rules promulgated under the Act, codified as Chapter 61N-1, Florida Administrative Code (the “Rules”), registration, inspection and investigative activities necessary to meet requirements specified in the Act and Rules. The Act's principal purpose is to protect public health, safety, and welfare by preventing fraud, adulteration, misbranding, and false advertising in the preparation, manufacture, repackaging, or distribution of drugs, devices, and cosmetics.Your Specific Responsibilities:This is a career service, non-sworn investigator position assigned to the Jacksonville Office. The selected applicant:Inspects, monitors, and investigates persons and establishments subject to the Act, including applicants for permits issued under the Act and establishments permitted under the Act, for compliance with the Act and the Rules.Investigates violations of the Act, the Rules, and state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and other laws concerning drugs, devices, and cosmetics.Gathers and analyzes evidence and prepares and submits technical and operational documents related to inspections and investigations, including inspection and investigation reports, complaints, notices of inspection results, and warning letters, all within specified time limits.Serves as a statewide subject matter expert for the Act and the Rules.Provides consultation and technical assistance in matters relating to compliance with the Act, the Rules, and state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and other laws concerning drugs, devices, or cosmetics.Reviews product registrations under the Act and Rules as assigned.Participates as assigned in training the DDCs and other personnel concerning best inspection/investigative practices and procedures and the requirements of the Act, the Rules, and state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and other laws concerning drugs, devices, and cosmetics.Assists in developing and training other department personnel regarding the DDC's operational tools, including equipment, hardware, and software used in performing assigned duties.Advises the Pharmaceutical Program Manager and the Chief of Compliance and Enforcement on policies, procedures, and training.Educates the regulated industry about compliance with the Act, the Rules, and state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and other laws concerning drugs, devices, or cosmetics.Advises, interfaces with, and coordinates with federal, state, and local law enforcement and regulatory agencies and authorities, including, as assigned, interagency task forces.Represents the DDC as a recognized source of expertise and authority in conferences, meetings, and presentations involving issues of considerable importance.Provides testimony at trials, hearings, depositions, and proceedings concerning matters within the scope of the described duties, including inspections, investigations, chain of custody, and records.
