My client is seeking a skilled and experienced E&S Property Underwriter to join their team, focusing on a dynamic portfolio of complex single-risk accounts. This role is critical in managing a specialized book primarily consisting of educational institutions and municipal properties, including policies in high catastrophe (CAT) exposure areas. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both direct policy underwriting and reinsurance, encompassing facultative and treaty reinsurance agreements, with a particular focus on shared and layered accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment and Underwriting: Underwrite complex single-risk accounts with a focus on educational institutions and municipalities. Assess and determine appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing for accounts that require specialized expertise and high CAT exposure management.
- Direct Policy and Reinsurance Underwriting: Develop and manage both direct policies and reinsurance policies, including facultative and treaty arrangements. Utilize knowledge of the E&S market to create solutions that meet the nuanced needs of [Client's Company]'s clients.
- Portfolio Management: Build and maintain a profitable portfolio, with an emphasis on shared and layered accounts. Evaluate coverage requirements, set limits, and determine premium rates that reflect client needs while managing risk effectively.
- Collaborative Client Support: Work closely with brokers, clients, and internal teams to ensure policies are accurately tailored to meet the complex requirements of education and municipality-focused accounts. Provide guidance on policy structure, pricing, and coverage options that align with each client's risk profile.
- Catastrophe Exposure Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of high-risk CAT areas to support sound underwriting decisions. Incorporate risk modeling and disaster recovery planning into underwriting assessments for regions prone to natural disasters.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all underwriting activities meet regulatory, legal, and compliance standards specific to the education and municipal sectors, while maintaining thorough documentation to support underwriting decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; CPCU, ARM, or similar certifications are a plus.
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in E&S property with a focus on complex single-risk and catastrophe-exposed accounts.
- Proven experience with both direct and reinsurance policies, including facultative and treaty reinsurance.
- Deep understanding of shared and layered account structures, especially within education and municipality sectors.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in CAT modeling and exposure management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, brokers, and cross-functional teams.
