Apply now to see what it means to us and what it's like to work somewhere your voice is heard, your wellness is a priority, and your success matters.JOB TITLE:Early Childhood ClinicianEMPLOYMENT TYPE:Full-time, 40 hours/wk SCHEDULED HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm; 1-2 evenings possible per monthPROGRAM/LOCATION:Early Childhood, Manchester, CT PC#: 1800ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Early ChildhoodProvides early childhood mental health consultation, training, assessment, intervention, and linkage to services for children age 0-5 who are attending pre-school and who are in need of consultation to identify strengths and barriers to their care and early intervention to address mental health needs.There are some DCF slots, but DCF involvement is not necessarily required.ABOUT THE POSITION:The ECC will serve as a mental health consultant to early childhood providers, educators, and families with children eligible for this service. The ECC is an expert in the promotion of positive early childhood mental health intervention and services. The ECC will possess skills that include a thorough knowledge of early childhood development/mental health coupled with an understanding of family dynamics and relationship building on an individual/family, provider and community level. This position will represent the consultant's home agency, ABH, and its services in a positive and professional manner and adhere to both agencies best practices, guidelines, policies and procedures as established.By:•Providing mental health consultation to an assignment of daycare centers according to contract guidelines.•Providing, consultation, classroom planning, coordination to daycare providers.•Responding to specific requests for assessment and planning for a child in a daycare center.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Team with early childcare staff and families to identify and provide interventions for young children, birth to five, who may be at risk of suspension and/or expulsion from a childcare or early education program.•Act as a resource regarding early childhood development with emphasis on emotional and behavioral health and the importance of relationship between the child and parent/guardian.•Complete assessments and individualized plans to involve the early childcare provider, child and family.•Assist early childcare staff with appropriate referral information for identified children and families who may need more specialized services.•Participate in training modules, regularly scheduled statewide meetings and supervisory observations.•Act as a liaison between family, early childcare provider and other support agencies in the community.•Provide public education regarding early childhood topics, through community presentations.•Provide required data and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master's Degree in Human Services related field (Psychology, Social Work, Education, Marriage and Family Counseling).Experience: Extensive knowledge and a demonstrated level of expertise in the field, in early childhood development, emotional and behavioral health, family systems, assessment skills, childhood development, attachment/separation issues, behaviors of new mothers, young mothers and fathers, substance abuse, domestic violence, verbal/physical/sexual abuse/neglect issues, mental illness, failure to thrive, low birth weight infants, and children with physical and developmental disabilities.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed as a medical health professional or license eligible.
