Choose an organization that provides career advancement and the opportunity to impact health.ChristianaCare is recruiting for a Child Development Specialist/Early Childhood Educator to conduct assessments and provide therapeutic intervention for children ages birth to three, identified as showing developmental delays. Care is provided in the child's natural environment, which includes, but is not limited to, the child's home, daycare, or preschool.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate cognitive, social/emotional and self-help skills for children showing developmental delays in order to determine their developmental levels and design appropriate therapeutic programs .
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge to provide care appropriate and individualized care, including knowledge of growth and development, and the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs.
  • Provides on-going assessment of therapeutic programs to determine program effect. Conducts individual or group intervention in settings appropriate for the child's comfort level and developmental progress.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of assessments and progress to monitor completion of patient goals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education required
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Early Childhood Development and/or Early Childhood Education preferred
  • An internship in a related area preferred
  • Experience with children ages birth to 3 preferred
  • Knowledge of the theories and methods of child development, early childhood education and exceptional pre-school children
  • Knowledge of educational tests and measurements
