Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant About the job Opportunity to work in an Early Childhood Mental Health Program for children ages 0-5 in Early Childhood Education settings in NYC. Seeking a mental health consultant to provide support to program staff, students, and caregivers in Early Childhood Education Settings. Supervision in early childhood mental health practices will be provided. Responsibilities:
  • Establish collaborative relationships with Early Childhood Education Programs to provide Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation.
  • Observe early childhood classrooms and help educators to implement positive behavior interventions and strategies to support social-emotional development.
  • Train program staff on early childhood mental health and wellness, including symptoms of trauma in young children.
  • Consult with staff and families in programs to determine the need for additional support or referral for identified students.
  • Assist in developing reflective practice and relationship building among staff and families within programs.
  • Make referrals as needed for children who would benefit from more intensive mental health services.
  • Participate in regular supervision and attend early childhood specific trainings.
  • Provide intakes and therapy to children in ECE centers and Northside clinic sites as requested by Program Coordinator/Supervisor
  • Meet client productivity goals as set up by Program Coordinator/Supervisor
  • Maintain timely recording of services rendered and contacts made
Qualifications and credentials:
  • MSW/LMSW/LCSW/MHC/LMHC with strong understanding of early childhood development (birth-five) and experience with young children.
  • Eagerness to learn evidence-based strategies to support mental health in young children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Manhattan to programs.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Independent and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in a second language (i.e., Spanish or Mandarin) preferred.
