QUALIFICATIONS:
* Ability to work with children and families, not excluding children with special needs.
* Ability to communicate with staff, children, families and community members.
* Ability and desire to work with children.
* Ability to complete all the paperwork and forms for Early Head Start.
* Maintain confidentiality and professional discretion.
* Ability to lift, unassisted, as required by the job.
* Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid Kansas driver`s license.
* Appropriate background check completed
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold one of the following:
* Must have a high school diploma or an equivalent endorsement.
* Training in the NKESC Infant-Toddler curriculum
* A Child Development Associates (CDA) or working towards this credential

* HS/EHS Director
* HS/EHS Assistant Director
* EHS Program Manager
* NKESC Executive Director
* Performance of job will be evaluated by the Early Head Start Director
JOB GOAL:
The EHS Home Visitor`s primary goal is to provide a positive environment for Early Head Start children who qualify for the Early Head Start Program and their families. The Home Visitor will provide intervention that will encourage the child to be successful and improve their self-image.
The primary goal of the Case Manager is to work with the Early Head Start families. The Case Manager will provide services in the six areas (Social Services, Nutrition, Health, Mental Health, Disabilities/Education and Parent Involvement). The Case Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing the family partnership agreements to the families in their caseload.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Home Visitor
* Serve as a program coordinator in assigned home visiting areas.
* Prepare and carry out weekly lesson plans.
* Supervise the activities of children in an educational environment, which is safe, healthy, enriching and conducive to the maximum social and cognitive development of each child.
* Home Visitor must visit each family a minimum of 44 home visits per year.
* Help families complete the goals and needs as indicated on the Family Partnership Agreement.
* Prepare schedules and plans for the most effective use of volunteers; supervise the activities of volunteers on-site according to plans.
* On home visits, make sure parents are informed of activities, given a calendar of activities, obtain signatures on consent forms and carry-over benefits of Early Head Start activities into the home.
* Complete training on the NKESC Early Head Start curriculum
* Maintain accurate records of child attendance and volunteer participation and submit reports in a timely manner.
* Conduct visits with child`s parents, as needed, to gain insight from them and/or to provide feedback to parents on their child`s development.
* Advise HSIEHS Director and the EHS Program Manager of the need for educational equipment and supplies; insure that equipment is functional each day and that adequate supplies are on hand.
* Maintain accurate records of child attendance and volunteer participation and submit reports in a timely manner.
* Conduct visits with child`s parents, as needed, to gain insight from them and/or to provide feedback to parents on their child`s development.
* Advise HSIEHS Director and the EHS Program Manager of the need for educational equipment and supplies; insure that equipment is functional each day and that adequate supplies are on hand.
* Participation in staffing to provide insight from educational perspective in the planning for services to the family as a whole.
* Work with families and community at Family Activity Nights. Assist with arranging training for the FAN.
* Help families receive training on health services, education, family involvement, nutrition, and social services.
* Perform assessments on EHS Head Start children to determine their skills and needs.
* Adhere to EHS Head Start, NKESC, and the local school district policies.
* Prepare requests for material purchases.
* Conduct two socializations a month for EHS families
* Attend in-services as directed to meet local, state and federal guidelines.
* Assist in recruitment and enrollment ofEHS children under the direction of Policy Council and the HS/EHS Director and assistant director.
* Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Case Manager
* Will serve assigned families in providing services to meet their needs
* Help families evaluate their needs and prioritize those needs.
* Make a minimum of 44 home visits per year.
* Provide services that will allow families to become independent enough to ask for
assistance when needed.
* Evaluate the families on their caseloads for health and medical needs. This will require making sure families receive their immunizations and screenings within the time limits stated by Early Head Start and follow the schedule of EPSDT.
* Develop knowledge of community services and make referrals to these agencies for their families.
Serve as an advocate for their families on their caseload.
Encourage participation in the education and activities of their child in Early Head Star
Ensure accurate and effective record keeping of the families.
Collaborate with the EHS program manager, and families in the development of events and activities, which ensure the program`s emphasis upon total family development.
* Assist parents to conduct self help and life enriching programs for themselves; e.g., education and parenting skills, health care, mental health, job preparedness training, and cultural activities.
Have a minimum of twenty-four group socialization activities per year for students.
