RequirementsEducation and Experience:
- Must be 15 years of age or older & pass the American Red Cross swim test: which includes 1) Swim on front 150 yards, tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of water, swim on front for 50 yards (must be done consecutively without stopping) 2) In a timespan of 1 minute 40 seconds swimmer must jump into shallow end of pool, swim on front to deep end, retrieve 10 lb. object from bottom of pool, swim on back with object on stomach to the shallow end, place object on pool deck, and get out of pool.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard certification a plus.
- Current CPR, First Aid & AED certifications required.
- Must have the ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness and possess mature judgment and sound decision making.
- Ability to relate to people in a positive, but firm manner must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate information on aquatics and other Y programs to members and participants
- Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff. Develops rapport with members.
- Conveys basic information on Y programs and schedules to members, and as appropriate, refers members to other programs and/or staff.
- Performs routine maintenance of the pool and surrounding areas, to ensure cleanliness.
Salary Description $14.00 -$16.00 an hour
