Job DescriptionWe're searching for an Echo lab Quality Improvement Specialist, someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you will be the Cardiology Echo lab's technical director. This includes the orientation, monitoring, and ongoing training/development of the technical competence of staff, contributing feedback and on-going review of sonographers for hiring decisions and performance evaluations, informal oversight of technical operations including the trouble shooting of technical issues, and coordination of sonographer and trainee schedules and rotations for the lab to appropriatelyperform studies. To perform high quality and complex echocardiographic exams on patients that range in age from neonates to adults including both inpatients and outpatients. To partner with the Medical Director and departmental leadership to achieve improvements in study quality in the lab.Think you've got what it takes?Job Duties & Responsibilities•Performs echocardiographic exams by participating in daily and on-call staffing.•Performs high quality echocardiographic exams and collaborates with the cardiology staff to make accurate diagnoses of complex congenital and acquired pediatric heart abnormalities.•Recognizes, and understands complex anatomy and physiology, diagnosing dextrocardia, heterotaxy syndrome etc.•Performs complex quantification analysis, clinical research following TCH lab guidelines, three-dimensional echo reconstruction and analysis and analyzes strain rate and strain imaging for advanced function studies.•Prepares equipment and the patient rooms (stocks linen and supplies) for operational use.•Maintains Echo Lab equipment and systems.•Support the Technical Operations of the Echo Lab.•Support the ongoing quality improvement initiatives of the Echo Lab.Skills & Requirements•Required Technical diploma from a school of ultrasound (e.g., Diagnostic Medical Sonography) OR a bachelor's degree•Required Licenses/Certifications, Need one of the following: o RDCS - Cert-Reg Diag. Cardiac Sono by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR o RCS - Cert-Registered Cardiac SONO by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR o RCCS - Cert-Reg Congenital Cardi Sono by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)•Required 5 years of experience as an echo sonographer with a preferred 3 years' experience in a pediatric environment or quality assurance roleAbout UsSince 1954, Texas Children's has been leading the charge in patient care, education and research to accelerate health care for children and women around the world.
