Join UPMC Imaging at a Top 10 National Pediatric and Magnet-Designated Hospital! \n UPMC Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time Echocardiography Staff Sonographer to join their Cardiology team! \n We are offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus to eligible hires for a 2-year work commitment! \n The Staff Sonographer will work daylight hours, starting between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., Monday through Friday! This role will have some on-call obligations for the evening shift of 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at both Children's Hospital and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. Additionally, there is a rotational on-call schedule for weekend and holiday coverage, as needed. \n The Staff Sonographer performs non-invasive echocardiography and Doppler studies to support the Cardiology departments. This role will have some rotational travel required, as needed, at UPMC Children's Satellite locations (North, East, and South) and Outreach Clinics. \n Why UPMC Children's Hospital? Imaging supports these efforts while bolstering employees' career growth, with numerous career path options that are built for our employees to succeed. \n \n Responsibilities:\n\nMust be able to work various shifts and provide on-call, overtime, and weekend coverage, as well as support examinations at the main campus, satellite, and/or any outreach location(s).\nPerform clerical duties accurately in a timely manner, such as entering data in the patient logbooks and entering patient billing information into appropriate system.\nPerform scans at the technical level as deemed appropriate by the Lead Sonographer and Medical Director.\nRecognize complex heart disease and acquire some of the necessary images.\nSeek appropriate guidance to complete studies.\nIdentify four interesting cases, one simple shunt, one simple stenosis, and one complex lesion case (as defined by the divisional director) per quarter and logs these cases into the Sonographer QA binder.\nPerform complete echocardiographic studies (two-dimensional imaging and Doppler) on children with structurally normal hearts and simple cardiac lesions (i.e. VSD, ASD, and PDA) without assistance.\nAttend Echocardiography Laboratory teaching conferences and continue to expand own knowledge of echocardiography and congenital heart disease.\nParticipate in teaching ultrasound students and cardiology fellows to the degree of own knowledge.\nReview patient's medical history to determine what echocardiographic information is needed.\nFunction independently and perform the full range of echocardiography examinations.\nWork with all makes of equipment and explore new procedures and technology.\nPerform miscellaneous Echocardiography Laboratory duties to include: maintain supplies and equipment, pull and key echo studies, and maintain a clean Echocardiography Laboratory.\nWork with the child and family to secure cooperation so that a diagnostic echocardiographic study can be obtained.\n\nAssociate's Degree and/or graduate of an accredited ultrasound training program.\nBasic science area, such as ultrasound, with an emphasis on cardiac anatomy and physiology or related healthcare field.\n1 year of echocardiography procedure experience.\n\n1 year of echocardiography experience equals an independent Echo Cardiographer employed with a full-time status.\n\n\nMay enter through UPMC Children's trainee position that was successfully completed within 12 months worked.\n\n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer.
