Summary

  • The Ecommerce Merchandiser is responsible for optimizing the online presentation and sales performance of bicycles and cycling accessories. This role plays a key part in driving ecommerce success by ensuring that product listings are accurate, visually appealing, and easy to find for cycling enthusiasts. The role also involves developing and executing merchandising strategies that align with broader marketing and sales goals, with a focus on increasing conversions and average order values. This position requires a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and industry knowledge to optimize ecommerce performance and deliver an exceptional customer experience within the cycling niche.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Product Presentation: Manage and maintain product listings, including descriptions, pricing, images, and reviews for bicycles and related accessories to ensure accuracy and appeal.
  • Merchandising Strategy: Implement cross-selling and upselling strategies while developing merchandising plans to support marketing campaigns, specifically targeting the cycling market.
  • Data Analysis: Monitor key performance metrics such as sales and conversion rates, and analyze customer behavior to guide informed merchandising decisions within the cycling industry.
  • Inventory Coordination: Work closely with demand planning to ensure availability of popular products and forecast seasonal demand to prevent stockouts.
  • Promotions and Campaigns: Lead the planning and execution of online promotions and discounts, aligning efforts with marketing and cycling-related events.
  • Customer Experience Optimization: Enhance website navigation, product discoverability, and checkout processes to improve customer satisfaction and conversions.
  • Content Management: Collaborate on creating and updating SEO-friendly content to highlight promotions and new product launches in the bicycle category, ensuring it aligns with brand guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with design, marketing, customer service, and external vendors to ensure cohesive messaging and successful merchandising execution.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, eCommerce, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in retail bicycle sales, retail merchandising, ecommerce merchandising, or similar.
  • Proficient in eCommerce platforms and/or content management systems (e.g., Shopify, Magento, Wordpress, WooCommerce, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Passion for bicycles and cycling, or experience in the bicycle industry is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of bicycle customer needs, product features, and benefits.
  • Previous experience working with cycling products or services.
  • Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS for basic website editing.
  • Understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using tools like Google Analytics.
