Click HERE and then select the desired agency to view the pay range for that employer.JOB SUMMARY:The City of Birmingham is looking for a well-qualified, motivated Economic Development Project Administrator to assist in identifying strategic economic development projects and to manage activities related to these projects. Individuals in this job class communicate with a variety of stakeholders to improve and design information flow that aligns with the Department's mission and objectives for economic prosperity. They research and coordinate resources and funding opportunities to assist with logistics and outputs related to the projects they oversee. Economic Development Project Administrators are responsible for preparing and monitoring program, department, and organizational budgets, making adjustments according to outcomes. They work under the general administrative supervision of the Director of Innovation and Economic Opportunity, and their work is reviewed based on project outcomes and effectiveness. One or more of the preferred qualifications may be used by the hiring agency to identify applicants to invite to participate in subsequent selection processes.* Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.* Experience using project management tools (e.g., GANTT charts, implementation software).* Experience working in the field of economic development (e.g., promoting business recruitment, retention, expansion, workforce development and/or entrepreneurship).* Experiencing researching and writing grant proposals in addition to monitoring grant programs.JOB DUTIESTypical job duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:* Contributes to the success of departmental projects by identifying objectives, using and creating data management systems, sorting and analyzing data, and presenting findings in order to inform and guide decision makers.* Assists external organizations in obtaining city funding for economic development projects by developing and advertising project proposals, training review committees, coordinating finalist presentations, negotiating and finalizing contracts, organizing survey data, and presenting finalists to the Birmingham City Council in order to obtain project approval.* Manages agency projects by establishing goals and timelines, delegating responsibilities, reviewing work, working with outside agencies and vendors, and completing various project reports to ensure completion according to timelines.* Gathers and utilizes information from a variety of sources by extracting, tracking, analyzing, converting, interpreting, reporting and presenting data for communication and marketing purposes.* Acts as a lead worker of peer or support staff by assigning and reviewing work tasks, facilitating training, and providing feedback using policies, procedures, tools, and directives from management in order to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with established requirements.* Engages in activities designed to ensure professional development, awareness of developments in the field, and knowledge of relevant practices, rules, laws, policies, and/or guidelines.* Provides service to internal and/or external customers.COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe City of Birmingham offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:* Salary range: $58,094 - $90,126 (starting salary is commensurate with education and experience)* A City-sponsored pension retirement plan.
