A Day in the Life of an EDIFI Senior Accountant The Senior Accountant will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This role includes the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of all credit union cash/general ledgers and other fiscal records.
  • Maintain corporate credit union and all other bank account balances.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide daily liquidity reports to senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Coordinate month end closing.
  • Assist with the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Analyze financial data, trends, and variances to identify areas for improvement and provide actionable insights to senior management.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and deliverables.
  • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Identify and assess financial risk and implement controls to mitigate risk.
  • Continuously evaluate the accounting process and systems to improve efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to Accounting personnel.
  • Collaborate with other departments daily and when completing special projects.
  • Ensure that all information and transactions regarding the credit union and members are kept confidential.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures of EDIFI Federal Credit Union.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsEducational/Training Requirement:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is mandatory.
Experience:
  • A minimum of three - five years' experience in the general ledger and financial accounting field.
  • Experience in a credit union or financial service institution is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Banking/Credit Union Industry preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to produce Excel documents, pivots, v-lookups, spreadsheets, databases, etc., with Windows-based software.
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of Asset and Liability Management.
  • Understanding of the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Advanced mathematical skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills in person, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Well established interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with others respectfully and professionally, active listening skills, adaptability, and the ability to build positive relationships.
Work Schedule: This position will be scheduled 35 to 40 hours per week. Accounting Department Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:30am to 5:00pm Note: Schedule subject to change on an as needed basis, in accordance with business needs. Ready to Join Our Team?
