Editor, Corporate Finance, US, Canada and LatAm
Reuters is looking for an ambitious, mid-career journalist to lead our coverage of corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, capital markets and certain aspects of ESG. This is a senior role within the global finance and markets team and oversees a team of highly talented reporters and editors. Think of the role as the leader of a SWAT team for corporate coverage. The team gets involved in some of the biggest stories across the business file, using their existing sources and source-building skills to help produce speedy, impactful journalism. They also investigate business stories. The last person in the role helped Reuters win a Pulitzer Prize and a Gerald Loeb award over the past two years.
The successful candidate will have a track record of being able to work across the time spectrum, from highly competitive scoops and insights reported with speed to ambitious journalism that can take months. To do that, they should have the ability to spot tips and information that have the potential to be bigger stories, conceptualize such stories and act as a player-coach for reporters and editors in the team. The role also requires someone with management experience and the ability to work effectively with reporters and editors across teams and geographies. An excellent work ethic and a deep desire to win are essential.
