Please be sure to submit a current resume when applying for this positionPOSITION SUMMARYPerforms diverse editorial support duties for department, director and associate director and assists in publications and resources produced by department through all phases of production by typing, proofreading, verifying and organizing materials for printing. Requires high level of technical (well developed keyboard/computer, etc.) skills, high levels of tact, friendliness and other aspects of strongly developed interpersonal skills, plus proven organizational skills.COMPENSATION

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Prepare and proofread manuscripts for publications, meeting production deadlines.
  • Receive manuscripts via e-mail, reformatting as needed for editor's use.
  • Verify quotations in manuscripts.
  • Secure permissions for copyrighted material used.
  • Process copyright license agreements for translation and publication with divisions and publishing houses.
  • Edit and produce quarterly newsletter and quarterly scholarship newsletter -writing, proofing, editing, scheduling writers, production layout.
  • Perform departmental desktop publishing assignments; use scanner and photo imaging software to produce photo graphics for use in departmental resources, newsletter, brochures, and flyers.
  • Set up and maintain databases, records, departmental lists, and address lists in compliance with GDPR protocols.
  • Update and manage address list for quarterly newsletters. Responsible for addressing and mailing quarterly newsletters.
  • Research topics in print media and on the Internet as requested.
  • Respond to telephone, fax, and Internet queries and requests; process correspondence with follow-up as needed to complete editorial assignments.
  • Send completed manuscripts by e-mail or to download sites as needed. Prepare and upload open manuscripts to the restricted website for divisions to download, translate, and print.
  • Act as liaison with publisher for scheduling and production.
  • Send complimentary copies to authors.
  • Work with website designer in keeping website platform updated.
  • Manage website, with its auxiliary restricted website. Create resource pages, upload materials, publish news.
  • Update and manage YouTube channel; social media and enditnow website as needed.
  • Assist women's devotional book series editor.
  • Responsible for managing WM meetings during GCS which includes being present during the meetings to assist speakers and attend to attendees needs.

  • Maintain office areas and associated files.
  • Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Must maintain a regular and reliable attendance schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience
  • Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree or equivalent in English or journalism related field required. Appropriate successful editing experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirements. Must be highly proficient in English.
  • Three (3) or more years editing experience are needed to gain skills and knowledge required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Ability to maintain neatness and order, organization and a pleasant disposition in dealing with others. Requires knowledge of up-to-date office procedures such as filing, telephone techniques, office equipment (including computer, etc.), and strong English language usage (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.).
  • Ability to perform duties with speed and accuracy without constant supervision. Must have the ability to work under pressure and with interruptions.
  • Position requires keyboard speed.
  • Well-developed computer skills on Apple computer; in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Team OneDrive), Adobe Acrobat and Creative Cloud software (InDesign and Photoshop essential); MailChimp, WordPress; GC website platforms: ALPS, MODX, SQL; Zoom, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other programs as needed; editorial aptitude, writing skills, efficiency in clerical responsibilities required.
