LinkedIn is looking for a highly motivated journalist with strong editorial judgment to join our editorial team as a prompt engineer. The successful candidate will be a precise, thoughtful and creative editor with an interest in learning more about generative AI and developing new technical skills. They will also be adept at working cross-functionally; experience working with product managers or engineers is a plus. The role involves drafting and testing editorially focused generative AI prompts to power a wide range of editorial initiatives across LinkedIn. The role will require creative thinking, collaborative problem solving and a willingness to explore new ways to solve different editorial challenges using generative AI. You will also be a nimble operator, able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at once. The ideal candidate will be cool headed under pressure and comfortable working on projects that may involve ambiguity and no single, immediate solution. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Drafting and testing generative AI prompts to power editorial products at LinkedIn
  • Evaluating the quality of outputs of prompts developed by the editorial prompt engineering team
  • Workshopping prompt drafts and offering feedback to other members of the editorial prompt engineering team
  • Developing new ideas for prompts to solve editorial challenges
  • Keeping up-to-date on the latest trends and techniques in prompt engineering and generative AI
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners (engineers, product managers) and other members of the LinkedIn editorial team
  • Working on several projects at once, occasionally on tight deadlines.
  • Training other editors and partners in the basics of prompt engineering.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in editorial or equivalent role
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or Creative Writing or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exemplary editorial judgment.
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Eagerness for experimentation and creative problem solving.
  • Some experience using generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Cohere, etc.).
  • Passion for learning new technologies and tools.
  • Experience in journalism or other communications field preferred.
  • Knowledge of Python and SQL is welcome, but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads effectively.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Cool under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to see other people's points of view and welcome constructive feedback.

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $93,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
