We're searching for an enthusiastic Special Projects Intern to join our dynamic team!As a Special Projects Intern at Marvel Comics, you'll be at the heart of comic-book and book production, working closely with our Marvel editors and production team. If selected for the role, you will report to our Manager, Digital Assets.This part-time internship offers invaluable mentorship from our team of expert editors and production staff, and provides a behind-the-scenes look at the various departments within Marvel Publishing. It's more than just an internship; it's your gateway to an extraordinary, hands-on journey in the world of comic-book creation. What You Will DoEvery day, you'll immerse yourself in the intricate world of your favorite Marvel comics. You'll play a pivotal role in the comic- and book-creation process. From collecting reference materials and conducting research to immersing yourself in our physical and digital archives.But the journey doesn't end there. You'll also have the chance to gain hands-on experience in offering manuscript notes as well as collaborate with our dynamic role-playing game team.Responsibilities and Potential Projects include:Editorial/Production Support:
  • Editorial Support: Research characters and storylines to inform upcoming projects, and gather reference images from the digital archive.
  • Production Support: Scan comics from the Publishing Library as reference for recoloring/remastering digitized film and proofing collections of classic material.
  • Book proofing: Compile notes from various partners. Reviewing original fiction and nonfiction titles.
Publishing Library Archive:
  • Reorganization: Help reconfigure the library layout to maximize space.
  • Cataloging: Update the library inventory, including indexing new titles.
  • Picking and filing: Pull books for editorial use and refile them when they're returned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye to ensure that no detail goes unnoticed is vital to the comic- and book-editing and archiving process and ensures quality throughout the production process.
  • Self-Motivation: Being self-motivated is key to excelling in your role.
  • Time Management: Efficient time management is needed to meet deadlines and fulfill your responsibilities.
  • Adaptability: Be ready to take on various related duties as required.
  • Microsoft Office Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, is a prerequisite.
  • Adobe Skills: Proficiency with Adobe applications, including Photoshop and Acrobat
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Book Publishing: Experience in the world of book publishing is an additional asset.
  • An interest in physical archives: A passion for organizing and preserving documents and artifacts
  • Role Playing Game Experience: A valuable asset to the team
  • Comic-Book Enthusiast: A genuine passion for comic books and a deep knowledge of the comic-book industry is a plus.
EducationUndergraduate students in their junior or senior year in (or recently graduated within the past six months) pursuing a bachelor's degree in Publishing, English, Journalism, Creative Writing, Communications, Library Science or related field. Eligibility Requirements & Program Information Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
