Salary : $45,704.00 - $70,841.00 AnnuallyLocation : Altamonte Springs, FLJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 202500039Department: Technology, Communication, & Strategic InitiativesDivision: TCSIOpening Date: 12/13/2024FLSA: Non-ExemptPosition Function Coordinate the creation of clear and concise written communication for internal and external audiences through a variety of digital and print platforms. Develop content with the purpose of educating, motivating and engaging key audiences while promoting the City's brand. Tasks/Duties
  • Research, write and distribute engaging content to promote and expand the City's brand through print and digital media platforms.
  • Write, review, proofread and edit materials to maintain clear and concise written communication to ensure that all projects are following City branding, marketing and communications strategies and guidelines. Assist in the development and maintenance of branding and style standards. Provide guidance and training to staff as needed. Keep a pulse on new communication tools/tactics and seek new opportunities to reach target audiences.
  • Coordinate the development of smart and compelling editorial content for the City's quarterly magazine. Collaborate with staff to plan and generate articles. Write, review and edit outlines and drafts.
  • Create engaging written content for all social media channels. Develop ways to increase audience engagement and brand visibility. Write and edit content for the City's internal employee newsletter. Assist with the review, editing and publishing of content on the City's website and internal intranet site. Collaborate with staff to develop scripts for video projects. Write, review and edit content for speeches, talking points, proposals and grants as needed.
  • Plan and coordinate a consistent social media calendar, maintaining a balance between informational content and content designed to engage followers.
  • Research, prepare and disseminate materials to members of the media. Maintain the City's media lists.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement new and creative growth strategies to develop City brand awareness.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects at one time and adapt to changing priorities while consistently meeting established deadlines.
  • Display versatility in adapting to the needs of different types of content. Demonstrate the ability to write in different tones and voices for the City's communication mediums, including, but not limited to, articles, social media, marketing collaterals, press releases, etc.
  • Assist with planning, coordination and production of City events as needed.
  • Drive to and from various city work locations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.
  • In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
  • Complete required trainings as specified within the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Two (2) years of writing experience. Ability to adapt to different voices and styles across various communication platforms.
  • One (1) year writing social media content. Experience and understanding of the unique writing style and high demands of creating large content volumes to keep channels fresh and engaging.
  • Knowledge and experience using Associated Press (AP) style, newswriting and the principles of public relations and marketing.
  • Professional experience using Microsoft Office software and the ability to use the internet and other online sources to research issues and ideas, and analyze and interpret the materials to support the work product.
  • Proven excellent written and oral communications skills, including proper spelling, composition and grammar, and the ability to communicate professionally and appropriately with staff, media and the public.
  • Valid driver license. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Marketing or public relations experience in an educational or professional environment.
  • Experience using Hootsuite social media management software.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge) in a professional or educational environment.
