JOB TITLE: Education Coach WORK LOCATION: Central Office PROGRAM: Head Start FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Education EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, Full Time REPORTS TO: Curriculum& Instruction Coordinator SUPERVISES: None WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm STARTING PAY RANGE: TBD General Description This position support and expand early educator's knowledge on early childhood education best practices as well as increase knowledge of the tools and resources used by NCCAA Birth to Five Head Start through mentoring, training, and support. In collaboration with the Education Coach. Works side by side with Teaching staff. Essential Duties Provides ongoing support to center staff. Ensures that the program is adhering to the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Conducts regular site visits and develops meaningful, productive relationships with site directors and teaching staff. Coaches and guides staff through the implementation of a developmentally and linguistically appropriate approach to child development and education. Provides initial and ongoing training and technical assistance to identified teaching staff regarding program philosophy, policies, procedures, and other topics as requested or assigned to ensure the uniform delivery of quality services. Provides initial ongoing training and technical assistance to staff including but not limited to: CLASS, Frog-Street, and other tools used within the program. Conducts CLASS observations as required by Head Start Performance Standards. Assists in planning and implementing professional development opportunities such as onsite trainings based on best practices and Head Start Performance Standards In collaboration with Site Base Managers/Center Directors, conducts CLASS observations according to the Education Calendar as required by the Head Start Performance Standards. Supports and monitors site staff with care and supervision to ensure lapses do not occur. Supports and ensures the achievement of recruitment and enrollment goals. Conducts ongoing monitoring of the classrooms for the purpose of observing activities and provides on-site consultation to teaching staff. Assists in designing, developing and delivering training programs and orientation for teaching staff. Submits written, weekly logs and completes monthly reports for assigned work activities to Education Coach Coordinator. Develops and maintains schedule for onsite visitations. Meets regularly with immediate supervisor and attends all meetings and trainings sessions as requested. Provides input into the agency TTA Plan. Must be able to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written format. Assists in accomplishing the programs non-federal share through the access of community resources (services, donations, discounts, etc.) Travels to seminars and meetings as directed. Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position. Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a Baccalaureate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development from a recognized University.
  • Must have knowledge in administering assessment tools such as CLASS, etc.
  • Five (5) years Preschool classroom experience and knowledge of early childhood program and philosophy.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation and public speaking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point as well as the use of Internet and E-mail to conduct research and communications is required.
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills
  • The ability to think strategically, plan, set goals and objectives and then organize and follow through.
  • Creativity, vision, charisma, strong presence, responsiveness, honesty, drive, and initiative are all traits that will be highly valued.
  • The successful candidate will be able to build effective relationships and motivate staff to meet professional development goals.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Special Requirements
  • Must maintain CLASS observer Reliability.
  • Must work towards CLASS Certification.
  • Maintains a current Compliance Binder
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, physical and functional capacity evaluation prior to first day of employment
  • Must successfully pass and submit a pre-employment TB test and periodically as indicated by the regional Texas Department of State Health Services or local health authority.
  • Requires a valid Texas Driver's License and liability insurance. Driving record is subject to review and approval by agency insurance carrier.
  • Must have transportation and current liability coverage on vehicle to be used in the performance of job duties. Some out of town travel may be required.
  • Proof of work eligibility must be provided.
  • Physical Demands
  • Normal physical activity includes occasional sitting, frequent standing, and walking in a usual workday.
  • Requires occasional pulling out and pushing in of drawers and other objects with occasional bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Requires occasional lifting and carrying of boxes of supplies less than 20 lbs.
  • Requires use of the five senses (hearing, seeing, touching, smelling, and tasting) to perform various job duties and in dealing with staff, clients, and outside.
  • Requires employee to use hands, arms, feet, legs, neck and head while performing Agency tasks.
  • Requires employee to occasionally crawl and twist in performing duties.
  • Requires frequent speaking and listening abilities with staff, co-workers, parents, supervisor, and parents/volunteersmust be able to hear a child cry out when in pain, injured, or ill.
