Our targeted program services reflect the cultural, racial/ethnic, and linguistic background of our families and provide specific strategies based on the unique needs of these families and children, ensuring that racial equity is embedded in our systemic approach.Job OverviewThe Education Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Early Learning and Inclusion to ensure full implementation of all aspects of AVANCE's early learning system, policies/procedures, and tools, with the goal of ensuring high-quality Early Childhood education services are provided to program participants including Family Childcare providers. Job ResponsibilitiesThe Education Coordinator systematically collects and analyzes data as the basis for decision making for program improvement to accomplish the following.
  • Plans and implements comprehensive, differentiated and sequential professional development for education staff including new staff onboarding and monthly professional development days
  • Supports Director of Early Learning and Inclusion in maintaining relationships with curriculum, assessment and screening tool vendors ensuring program has necessary materials.
  • Provides individual and group support for the education team in implementing educational initiatives and coaching.
  • Provides coaching of the coaches to the Early Learning Leaders and Education Coaches.
  • Tracks, monitors and ensures all Education goals and objectives are achieved including 45-day screenings.
  • Monitors and analyzes child assessments data at the program and center level in collaboration with Early Learning leadership/Family Childcare providers.
  • Supports Early Learning leaders/Education Coaches in facilitation of child assessment data review at center/FCC and classroom level with teaching staff.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with other service area leadership and initiatives to ensure:
  • Timely and appropriate support for children with specific needs
  • Parent education and outreach activities are aligned with program goals
  • Required number of socialization events are scheduled, implemented and well attended
  • Consistently contributes to region, network and professional excellence through productive leadership and participation in:
  • Regional planning and leadership (1:1 with Zone Director, policy council relations, leadership team meetings)
  • Participates in AVANCE's network leadership and collaboration meetings
  • External community relationships (LEAs, ISDs, higher education, NHSA, state agencies, policymakers)
  • Supports Director of Early Learning and Inclusion in monitoring educational expenditures.
  • Communicates with leadership on programmatic status, updates and any concerns regarding staff or facilities.
  • Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required
  • Meets with assigned staff at least monthly to provide coaching (including verbal and written feedback), identify and resolve problems, manage projects, track goals, review work processes and procedures, and ensure adherence to Head Start performance standards
  • Represents the team and/or department at meetings, events, and training as required.
Communication and Service Coordination
  • Participate in team and 1-1 meetings, regularly scheduled and as needed, to ensure coordination of services across the Head Start program.
  • Actively participate in the Head Start community, including staff meetings, mandated training, committee meetings, and other program-wide functions as needed, including some evening activities.
Record Keeping and Reporting
  • Support documentation of monitoring, coaching and training activities, adhering to AVANCE's existing systems (Shine Insight, Paycom, etc.) whenever applicable.
  • Complete monthly reports on area activities and progress toward goals with recommended modifications to plans, submit to Zone Director as scheduled.
Human Resources
  • Familiar with the personnel policies and procedures.
  • Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.
  • Review and approve time cards and complete performance appraisals in a timely manner
Non-essential Duties

QualificationsEducationRequired:
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education OR bachelor's degree in related field with at least six (6) courses in early childhood education and experience teaching preschool-aged children OR state awarded preschool teaching certification with experience teaching preschool-aged children
Preferred:
  • Master's degree preferred
License/CertificationsRequired:
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
Work Experience
  • 3-5 years' experience supervising and coaching teachers and education leaders; experience with early childhood education and special education strongly preferred
  • Prior Early Head Start experience highly preferred
  • Experience with infant/toddler curricula, ongoing assessment systems. Reliable in Infant-Toddler, CLASS/Preschool CLASS, ITERS-R/ECER-S, HOVR-S
