(M-F 0700-1530)Job Requirements: - Bachelor's degree- ASCP-HTL certification- 3 years of teachingJob Responsibilities: - Classroom and clinical instruction of students to include but not limited to developing and providing classroom, teaching/lecturing, coaching and mentoring, tutoring; and writing student evaluations - Conduct meetings with clinical and academic affiliates annually - Provide input into school curriculum, administer student admission, review annual budget, and provide direct assistance with accreditation standard maintenance - Assist with Self Study for NAACLS Sentara RMH Medical Center, founded in 1912, is located in Harrisonburg, Va. Sentara RMH is a not-for-profit, community-based regional healthcare facility licensed for 266 beds and fully accredited by DNV.The Sentara RMH HTL Program is a one year school that includes six months of lecture and student lab followed by six months of rotation through a hospital histology lab. Rotations will be in Sentara RMH Medical Center Histology Lab, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Immunohistochemistry Lab, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Histology Lab, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center Histology Lab, and Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital Histology Lab. Block teaching will be utilized in the didactic segment of the program with progression of courses from Fixation, Processing/Embedding, and Microtomy to Staining. The entering students will be required to have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 credits in biology and chemistry (minimum of 12 credits in each of chemistry and biology) prior to beginning the program. A certificate will be awarded at the completion of the school. Mission Statement It is the mission of the Sentara RMH School of Histotechnology to graduate beginning histotechnologists with the skills, knowledge, motivation, and insight to excel in the practice of histology laboratory medicine, and to pass national certification examinations. These graduates will be motivated to continue their education, and to become our future educators, leaders, innovators and managers in the histology laboratory.
