Job Summary

This is a full time Educator role at the Texas Medical Center supporting the Adult Day Surgery/PACU/Pain Clinic.Location: Texas Medical Center Hermann, Houston, TXPosition Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday (flexibility required)Shift: Day shift About the Role:We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Adult PACU Pain Clinic Educator to join our collaborative team at Texas Medical Center Hermann. In this critical role, you will oversee education and training efforts for a dynamic group of healthcare professionals, including approximately 140 FTEs across multiple departments (PACU, Day Surgery, Anesthesia Preop Clinic, Acute and Regional Pain Services). You will work closely with UT Physicians to ensure the highest standards of care in the recovery environment.Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for clinical staff in PACU and pain management services. Provide hands-on support and training to nursing staff, fostering strong clinical and critical thinking skills. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote patient safety and the effective use of pain management strategies. Lead educational initiatives and improve competency within the PACU, Day Surgery, and Pain Services teams. Coordinate training for new hires, ongoing staff development, and assist in achieving certifications. Contribute to program development and present educational sessions at internal and external conferences. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing
  • Completion of Basic Life Support
  • Other certification based upon specific nursing unit requirements

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • At least five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Viewed as a leader in current specialty

Principal Accountabilities

  • Serves as an educational resource at the service level and for core hospital activities. Assesses, plans, develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates educational needs that are appropriate to target population.
  • Develops curriculum for identified learning needs. Facilitates and coordinates individual learning plans.
  • Promotes team approach to healthcare delivery. Facilitates effective patient education at the service level. Evaluates effectiveness of patient education.
  • Develops and maintains new employee orientation program. Acts as clinical resource for staff. Communicates effectively with all levels of the healthcare team.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann service standards of providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and our workforce.
