Brands supported by the CRVA include the Charlotte Convention Center, Spectrum Center, Bojangles Entertainment Complex, NASCAR Hall of Fame, Charlotte Film Commission, Visit Charlotte and Visitor Info Centers.Job SummaryThe full-time Education Specialist will create memorable experiences for guests at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, focusing on facilitating and supporting family and adult programs such as team-building activities and other public events. They will enhance guests' learning experiences by assisting with on-site museum explorations. Additionally, the Education Specialist will collaborate with the Exhibits and Curation teams on exhibit installations, data management collection, and other related tasks. This role also includes assisting general admission guests by working as a Team Member during normal operating hours, including some nights, weekends, and special events at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.Job Responsibilities
  • Essential Job Duties
    • Supporting educational programs but not limited to public programs events, team builds, school groups and camp programs including providing group orientations, leading or supporting program delivery with groups and guest, monitoring and preparing supplies and materials, providing logistical support, assisting with hands-on activities, and setting up space and clean up after activities
    • Provides all guests with exceptional customer experience including day guests, members, groups, public programming, or events
    • Providing exhibit and curatorial support through administrative functions including data management of collections, installation and de-installation of exhibits
    • Assists guests in all museum areas providing directional guidance, gallery tours, NASCAR knowledge and guidance on using a variety of exhibit interactives including but not limited to qualifying, simulators and pit challenge
    • Maintain ongoing knowledge of exhibits, NASCAR history and stays abreast of updates in the building
    • Staffs internal and external events as needed including facilitating interactives, giving tours, and providing logistics support. This includes working NASCAR related events including but not limited to, Charlotte Race Weekends, NHOF Induction Weekend, and team announcements. These events may require hours outside of normal NHOF hours open to the public.
    • Monitors building to ensure cleanliness and guest safety
    • Performs regular checks during shift of equipment and exhibits to ensure proper operation
    • Assists in management of crowd flow to maintain efficient guest movement throughout the building
    • May perform other duties as assigned

  • Scope of Responsibility
    • Work with guests of all ages including day guests, groups, and event attendees
    • Work with large number of individuals (upwards of 300 plus) at one time
    • Work with adults and families in group settings
    Supervisory Responsibility
    • There is no supervisory responsibility
    Knowledge and Skill Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree or pursuing a college degree in a science field or education is preferred or at least 3 years' experience working with children (ages 3-18)
    • Must have at least 3 years of prior experience working in an educational setting with students pre-k to grade 12 (including a museum, after-school, or youth program).
    • Prior success in the delivery of quality customer service.
    • Adapting to changing daily schedules, assignments and needs to meet guest and visitors needs.
    • Experience working with adults as a facilitator to meet specific objectives.
    • Must be creative and resourceful in solving problems.
    • Strong understanding of science concepts that are relevant to exhibitions.
    • Must enjoy working with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
    • Displays a positive, engaging attitude
    Education and Experience
    • Prior success in the delivery of quality customer service
    • Must be creative and resourceful in solving problems
    • Must enjoy working with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds
    • Additional knowledge of NASCAR and motorsports is beneficial
    Physical Demands
    • Must be able to stand and walk for up to 6 hours at a time
    • Must be comfortable with and able to climb and descend stairs
    • Must be able to push carts up ramps (weight of 40 -50 lbs.)
    • Must be able to lift 35-40 lbs.
    Work Environment
    • The work environment can be high paced and intense for 3-4 hours at a time
    • Requires ability to adapt to various guest age groups
    • The noise level may vary dependent on the activity of the building
    • Ability to work flexible schedule and varying hours; including weekends and evenings is required
    • Ability to work high visitation days, including but not limited to holidays, race weekends and induction
