The Education Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of clinical education and supporting the development of nursing staff. The Education Specialist is responsible for providing hand-on clinical instruction to nursing students, developing and implementing educational programs, and supporting staff development initiatives. The Education Specialist adheres to Amberwell Health cultural competencies and principles of servant leadership in all aspects of job performance.Duties may include but are not limited to:Clinical Instruction (~2 Days per Week)
Student Supervision and Instruction:- Provide direct supervision and instruction to nursing students during clinical rotations.
- Ensure students adhere to clinical guidelines and best practices, fostering a safe and effective learning environment.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their professional growth.
Curriculum Development:- Collaborate with academic partners to develop and update clinical curriculum, ensuring alignment with current clinical standards and evidence-based practices.
Evaluation and Feedback:- Conduct regular evaluations of student competencies and provide feedback to students and academic institutions.
- Identify areas for improvement and contribute to the enhancement of clinical training programs.
Educational Specialist (~3 Days per Week)
Program Development and Implementation:- In conjunction with the Education Manager, design, develop, and implement educational programs and training sessions for staff, including continuing education and professional development initiatives.
- Assist in the development and execution of a simulation program to provide realistic clinical training experiences.
New Hire Orientation and Onboarding:- Ensure consistent and comprehensive onboarding experiences.
Community and External Engagement:- Serve as a BLS instructor, offering classes to the community and enhancing public health and safety.
- Facilitate external classes and conferences, bringing in experts and cutting-edge knowledge to the organization.
Collaboration and Support:- Collaborate with other departments and locations, to ensure educational consistency and support cross-departmental initiatives.
- Act as a mentor and resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development.

The Manager of Education Services is also responsible for maintaining and assisting staff members certifications in BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and other required certifications. The position is key in facilitating learning opportunities for the educational programs in the area and serving as a liaison representing the system. This position serves as an administrator for the online education program and assists system department leaders in designing, assigning, tracking, and reporting of education compliance. The ability to collaborate with system department leaders in the development of an effective orientation process, department specific competencies and role-specific annual skills requirements is essential. The ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated are essential qualities for this position. The ability to provide leaders throughout the system with the resources available for policy and procedure development, competency assessment, learning needs assessment, continuing education opportunities, and evidence-based practices using the knowledge of tools available within the system.Qualifications
- JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Master's degree in nursing preferred.
- Experience: At least three years of previous experience working as a nurse in a similar nursing care environment. Prior nursing education or clinical instruction experience preferred.
- Certificates, License, Registrations: Active unencumbered RN license for Kansas. BLS certification required, BLS instructor certification preferred.
