Location: Midland,MI, USA
The Director of Operations is responsible for all aspects of operational performance of the manufacturing plant in Midland, MI, and a close collaborator with EFC Operations team at Aptar Ckyne plant in Czech Republic. The primary mission is to support and implement Aptar Closures EFC Strategy and ensure that all operational and financial targets are achieved within budget. Additional responsibilities are to promote Operational Excellence activities, collaborate and coordinate with all functions and within Aptar Group network and ensure commitments to customers are met by providing high quality products, on-time, in full and meet target costs. This will be achieved by driving a culture of safety, continuous improvement, close alignment with cross-functional teams and strong financial controls.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* In cooperation with VP/GM EFC, develop EFC Global manufacturing and industrialization strategy, including international expansion
* Establish and clearly communicate a vision for the site supported by a strategy, goals, and annual objectives in coordination with the Site Leadership Team to deliver results.
* Define and achieve Operations Budget, including Capex and Productivity, based upon Sales budget, involving contributing departments in the process.
* Embed continuous improvement, process innovation and a CI mindset into the site's DNA with special attention to Safety, Quality and Efficiency.
* Ensure quality of products, production procedures and service, in line with best-in-class practices and Aptar policies.
* Establish and monitor MES and other applicable systems/metrics to maximize the positive impact on productivity and in turn, margins.
* Develop people at every level with robust training and development plans leveraging internal & external resources.
* Ensure the safety of all employees, and be in full compliance with all Aptar, state and federal government requirements.
* Provide an environment within the plant that is clean, comfortable, and efficient for product manufacturing and customer requirement.
* Engage closely with other Aptar sites, especially Aptar Ckyne, Operational Excellence function and other stakeholders to adopt best practices.
* For CI: implement Lean Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts - identify belts, drive training and development, project selection, etc.
* Develop strong site engineering and automation projects
Required Qualifications
* Education
* - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related Technical Field.
* - Alternatively, 10 years of direct manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.
* Experience:
* - At least the last five years leading a world class injection molding manufacturing operation.
* - Over 10 years of total manufacturing experience, with a proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change.
* - Demonstrated job history of increasing responsibility to manage multiple teams and functions.
* - Must possess a strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with manufacturing in a high volume/high mix environment.
* - Preference will be given to candidates with Six Sigma training and/or proven ability to implement Lean Principles.
* - Working knowledge of quality best practices as well as SQF and GMP procedures.
* - Very comfortable working with and interpreting data to solve problems and drive operational improvements.
