**Responsibilities**

**Position Summary:**
As an agent of the physician the pharmacy eFill specialist is responsible for gathering information from medical records and other sources as required to process medication refill requests while adhering to the departments protocol policies.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conduct and analyzes EMR chart notes and/or laboratory tests.
- Reviews renewal requests to ensure that the patient has a participating e-fill provider and has documentation of previous and/or future appointments in the clinic schedule.
- Ensures each refill request has appropriate documentation in the patients chart.
- Appropriately notifies the prescribing provider of any protocol criteria that are not met after reviewing the requested medication.
- Appropriately notifies the correct entities if a patient has not adhered to the monitoring parameters established by the prescribing provider.
- Keep accurate records and pay close attention to details on all renewal requests.
- Meets timelines for resolution of medication renewal requests.
- Maintains sole expertise on the work flow of the MRMS and may be required to work alone during parts of the refill process. Help streamline the e-fill process for patients and clinic staff. Educate the clinic staff regarding the e-fill process.
- Update patients of the status of their refill requests.
- Answers screens and processes a high volume of incoming calls in a professional manner. Determine the reason for the call and assist the caller with their questions concerns or problems with the focus on first call resolution. Facilitate patient issue-resolution by referring the matter to an issue/content expert. Escalate the matter to a supervisor request the appropriate information or take appropriate action so that the issue expert is able to effectively resolve the matter.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
- One (1) year of experience working in a nonacute care licensed pharmacy that dispenses/furnishes prescription medications.
- AA Degree required. Related work experience and college level education may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
- Clear and current CA Pharmacy Tech certification.
- Skills/Abilities: Ability to be self-motivated and work within minimal supervision yet able to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance. Ability to perform pharmacy calculations. Ability to operate fax machine photocopier and voice mail system. Capable of using/learning to use an electronic medical record (EMR). Demonstrate computer skills with clinical quality and financial reporting required including Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft PowerPoint and Desktop Publishing software. Ability to work with and communicate to diverse work force in all levels of the organization. Must have strong ability to serve as a patient advocate through a demonstrated skill in and understanding. Able to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained and a professional respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times.
Knowledge: Familiar with electronic methods of communications (e.g. e-mails computer messaging pagers etc). Knowledge of e-prescribing capabilities and limitations. **Preferred Qualifications:**
- Two (2) years experience working in a nonacute care licensed pharmacy that dispenses/furnishes prescription medications and medical insurance experience desired preferred.
- Strong communication skills preferred.
- Knowledge of generic and trade drug names and pharmacy terminology preferred.
**Pay Range**
$23.00 - $32.66 /hour
