Location: Eagle Grove Farm, Hartwell, GASchedule: Five days on and three days off, including holidays and weekends
Hours: 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Typically these positions generally average 40 hours a week. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:
- Fast paced, physical position in which a Team Member will pick up, deliver and inspect eggs to determine quality and fitness for incubation; cleans/sanitizes and stores eggs under controlled conditions in egg facility; keeps up-to-date and accurate records of all inventory; and cleans and maintains the Egg Facility.
Minimum Requirements: - Must have valid driver's license.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pick up and deliver eggs from chicken houses to egg facility (40%)
- Place hatching eggs in buggies and boxes and properly label both for internal/external orders (10%)
- Properly performs egg inventory practices and records daily inventory transactions into Excel spreadsheet and CHS (10%)
- Observes shell color/texture and external characteristics such as streaks, shadings, discolorations, cracks (10%)
- Remove waste (egg shells, feathers, feces, etc.); clean and sanitize egg room and connecting areas, crates and flats, and vehicles (10%)
- Assembles and loads boxes; assists with safety programs; communicates with third party truck drivers (10%)
- Monitors, controls, and records proper egg room temperatures and humidity controls (10%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift 65 pounds repetitively 100 times per day such as a tray of eggs and/or tools; and occasionally moves up to 2500 pounds such as a wheeled buggy. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex; enter and exit vehicle up to 100 times daily. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
- Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
- Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
- Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, Glutex, etc.
- Will be trained to recognize and comply with all Safety procedures.
- Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
