About the Role: We are looking for a Fluoromaterial (FM) Handling Specialist to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our Environmental Health & Safety team. This Associate will actively support work in the Fluoromaterial Handling Community of Practice in order to continue to safely and successfully invent, make and sell products containing Fluoromaterials. In this role you will apply fluoromaterial subject matter expertise throughout the enterprise to a variety of situations from detailed process topics to broad strategic needs. This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs. Pay and Benefits:
  • $95,000.00 - 140,000.00 per year

    • Partner with the EH&S Specialists and technical associates to identify, assess, manage and control EH&S FM Handling operational risks (proactive & reactive)
    • Assess any new or replacement chemicals to ensure safe processing (FM and Non-FM material assessments)
    • Schedule and conduct audits / assessments of FM handling operations to ensure a safe work environment
    • Understand issues, gaps and risks for handling of Fluoromaterials, and contribute to developing a strategy to manage risk
    • Be responsible for developing and implementing standards, processes, best practices, skills, and capabilities to increase the effectiveness of associates in handling Fluoromaterials
    • Build and maintain knowledge of industry best practices with respect to fluoromaterial handling
    • Support the sustainment of training/education on FM Handling topics relevant to each Associate's role
    • Conduct regular communication with key internal stakeholders to influence prioritization to include FM Handling
    • Contribute EH&S subject matter expertise in fluoromaterials to strategies and decision making for new and emerging regulatory requirements
    • Anticipate/respond to future FM compliance obligations involving data reporting
    • Be an advocate of Enterprise policies and practices on fluoromaterial stewardship Required Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related field (e.g.: Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Engineering, Public Health)
      • Chemistry background/experience and understanding of how chemicals interact
      • Minimum of 3 years EH&S experience
      • Knowledge and understanding of managing chemical risk
      • Demonstrated experience in influencing and partnering across functions and regions, driving adoption and alignment
      • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and tension for positive outcomes
      • Ability to understand complex interdependent systems and the ability to define problems and frame solutions
      • Ability to communicate in a clear concise, and timely manner
      • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time Desired Qualifications:
        • Advanced Degree in chemical/environmental engineering or material science (e.g. Master of Science)
        • Experience in a manufacturing, chemical processing, or laboratory environment with working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)
        • Expertise in fluoropolymer chemistry or processing This position requires access to export-controlled areas and information.
