Job Description- Develop and manage Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, ensuring accountability for EHS performance is integrated at all leadership levels and across all employee tiers at every location. Facilitate employee engagement with the Management of Environmental, Safety, and Health (MESH) Assessment System.
- Support the ACHIEVE ZERO safety culture by providing expert guidance on EHS matters, interpreting regulations, and helping identify effective solutions.
- Integrate EHS policies into day-to-day operations and offer direction to leadership, branch managers, and supervisors to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Coordinate EHS initiatives across all locations and departments, working collaboratively to foster a safer environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Lead MESH assessments, PSM/RMP audits, PHA revalidation audits, and other EHS-related assessments, ensuring thorough evaluations and adherence to safety standards.
- Oversee the creation, implementation, and tracking of EHS procedures, practices, and recordkeeping systems to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.
- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of required compliance reports to regulatory bodies, including EPA, OSHA, FRA, and DOT.
- Establish clear EHS goals and objectives for the organization, ensuring alignment at all levels.
- Stay current on evolving EHS regulations, best practices, and industry trends to ensure organizational compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Communicate EHS policies effectively across all teams.
- Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, applying cause-mapping techniques to identify root causes and corrective actions. Conduct interviews with employees to understand incidents and assess the effectiveness of corrective measures.
- Ensure all health and safety policies are clearly communicated to employees, with proper training provided and maintained to support compliance and safety standards.
- Regularly review and update risk assessments for equipment, processes, and operations, evaluating the effectiveness of safety procedures and controls in place.
- Apply knowledge of human behavior and equipment safety to mitigate risks and prevent injuries or damage from accidents or operational errors.
- Focus on controlling chemical and physical hazards within the workplace to prevent injury or illness, while educating employees on safe practices and procedures.
- Review plans for new processes, equipment, and Management of Change (MOC) requests to ensure compliance with EHS standards and regulations.
- Lead and engage with the company's Safety Committees, fostering a collaborative, safety-first approach across teams and departments.
- Track and report on EHS performance metrics, driving continuous improvement and the achievement of safety goals.
- Promote the Achieve Zero safety culture by striving for a zero-injury, zero-incident workplace, and encouraging a results-oriented, safety-conscious mindset across all teams.
- Perform other duties as required to support EHS initiatives and the ongoing safety and well-being of the organization.

The Successful Applicant- 5+ years of experience in a EH&S role for a chemical manufacturer (or adjacent industry)
- Bachelor's Degree
- Knowledge of municipal, regional, and federal Hazardous Materials Regulations and Environmental affairs.
- Competent in OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Plan Regulations.
- Must be able to interpret federal and state regulations (and their intent) to propose proper solutions for specific work environments.
