Job Details

Assist in implementing EHS programs and procedures that meet regulatory, permit, and corporate policy requirements.

Serve as a liaison between the EHS Director and/or Plant Manager and local, state, and federal agencies, including generating and submitting required reports.

Manage and implement site Environmental programs, including air permits, stormwater permits, solid waste management, chemical reporting, and related elements.

Coordinate and track industrial hygiene activities with the EHS Director.

Maintain chemical inventory processes and support the SDS database.

Support incident investigations and management processes.

Complete documents, records, logs, and other written or computer-based records as per established procedures.

Track injuries and coordinate with the workers' compensation carrier, employees, and managers as needed.

Report injuries/incidents to regulatory agencies and manage the injury/incident tracking system.

Lead or assist EHS committees and meetings.

Provide information on emergency response procedures, hazardous material handling, risk assessments/NRTRs, and industrial hygiene policies. Manage the Emergency Response/Action Plan.

Prepare EHS training materials and participate in conducting training sessions.

Assist or lead EHS training for new employees (OSHA, MSHA Part 48 & 46).

Communicate with other departments to ensure health, safety, and environmental requirements are met.

Continuously observe safety rules and practices, check safety equipment, and participate in scheduled safety meetings and training.

Work closely with Corporate EHS personnel.

Develop and prepare various EHS and Operational Excellence (OE) reports and statistical data.

Actively participate in sustainable improvement processes and use OE tools like 5S, kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work, and Problem Solving.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma required.

Post-secondary education and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs required; SharePoint experience strongly preferred.

OSHA Certification (OSHA 10, 30, or 40) and Accident/Injury Investigation Certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Thorough knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Proficiency in speaking, reading, and understanding English, with proper spelling and punctuation.

Organized and detail-oriented.

Proficient in PC programs used in business processes, including MS Office, SharePoint, Oracle, KMI.

Independent, self-motivated, and driven to achieve results.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.

Adaptable to changing work assignments, with a high level of integrity and dependability.

Team player with a positive and helpful demeanor.

Effective in electronic communication techniques, including video meetings.

Ability to memorize procedures, manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and follow all safety policies/procedures.

Demonstrated project management capability, leading several projects to closure with minimal supervision.

Travel:

Willingness to travel to other locations as needed.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically conducted in a controlled office environment, requiring regular movement around the office, sitting at a desk, and using office equipment.

Regular communication with internal and external individuals via various methods.

Frequent exposure to plant production areas, which may include varying temperatures, loud noise, and dust.

Use of appropriate safety equipment required in plant areas.

Work Hours:

Typically a day shift schedule, with the flexibility to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as necessary.

Safety Training:

New employees will receive training, which may include online and classroom instruction.

Safety Equipment:

Safety equipment is available and required for use in certain situations.
