Job Description:

Position Overview:

The EHS Manager is a key role within our hydropower asset management team, responsible for developing and managing the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management system. This position involves designing safety programs, standardizing procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations, providing training, conducting inspections, and supporting field staff, operations, and contractors. The EHS Manager will play a vital role in promoting a culture of safety and compliance across our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS Management system, focusing on environmental, health, and safety initiatives for hydropower assets.
  • Establish safety protocols and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify core safety items essential for field staff and standardize lockout and tagout procedures to prevent accidents and ensure safety compliance.
  • Standardize processes in the field to ensure consistent safety practices and minimize risks.
  • Provide and coordinate annual and real-time training sessions for employees, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all training activities and ensure records are up-to-date and accessible.
  • Conduct regular inspections and GAP assessments, applying fall protections and other safety measures where necessary.
  • Provide support and guidance to field staff, overseeing safety specialists as the team grows.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders, including local communities, contractors, project technical and operations teams, ensuring alignment with safety standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure a culture of safety and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Environmental Engineering and/or Masters in Environmental Science preferred not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a team leader in EHS activities within hydropower/infrastructure projects, renewables, or related manufacturing industries.
  • Expertise in hydropower environmental, health, and safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage EHS programs and initiatives throughout multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative skills and experience overseeing safety specialists.
  • Willingness to travel to sites up to 20% - 25% travel.
