General Function: Under the general direction of the Health and Safety Manager & Environmental Manager, the EHS Technician maintains operations in compliance with all federal and state environmental laws. The EHS Technician also ensures the facility is in compliance with corporate programs, facility specific procedures and work instructions.
Responsibilities:
Assists in completion of environmental reports (e.g., Tier II, Toxic Release Inventory, Discharge Monitoring Reports), maintains records, and keeps abreast of current and new requirements at the state and federal levels for air, water, and waste.Responsible for maintaining daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly inspection forms required by the company for the purpose of accuracy and retention. This will be done per all applicable standards and as required internally.Coordinates the collection and preparation for shipment of large quantities of hazardous waste, universal waster, and non-hazardous wastes. Collection and shipment of wastewater samples.Maintain and implement corrective actions associated with a spill prevention control and countermeasure plan (SPCC).Conducts site investigations and internal audits, prepares reports, and facilitates activities to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations and procedures.Enters and maintains all SDS and chemical approval documentation for the plant.Data entry for EHS software technologies for environmental and safety programs on a regular basis (e.g. Dakota, EMS Management system, EHS Insight, SharePoint, and Cority).Required to compose PowerPoint presentations and conduct safety and environmental training for employees as well as conduct New Hire Training for all new employees. Responsible for writing Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and LOTO instructions and other safety procedures.Assists HS Manager in accident investigations, weekly, monthly inspections, report writing and corporate communications.Maintains and creates a safe working environment for all employees. Looks for opportunity to get employees involved in environmental, safety, process changes and overall continual improvement efforts of the plant through the plants cascading goals.Responsible for safety and regulation compliance and training for contractors and sub-contractors.Member of the emergency response team.Must be willing to travel for seminars, training, and continuing education. Required to come in early or stay late as needed.Performs various other miscellaneous duties pertaining to the overall safety related functions as required. Such as managing multiple safety committees.Must be able to complete work under specified deadlines and with limited supervision. Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies/Physical Science or Occupational Safety.At least two years environmental and health/safety work or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
