By joining our team, you will contribute to producing and delivering every form of salt that enhances everyday life.Job Summary Under the general supervision of the EHS Manager, this employee does cleaning, housekeeping, and utility work throughout the facility. A Utility Worker must have excellent manual dexterity and the ability to work with a variety of equipment. They must also be able to learn new skills quickly, manage their time effectively, and communicate with other staff members.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform specific Housekeeping Tasks in designated areas. These tasks are but are not limited to, general and specific cleaning throughout office areas, production areas, and warehouse areas as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company EH&S procedures, including fire extinguisher inspections, emergency eyewash/safety shower inspections, Spill Kits inspections, and inspections of hazardous materials accumulation areas.
  • Understand the importance of Occupational Safety and health, product safety, legality, and quality. Inform the EHS Manager, QC Manager, and Facility Manager of any issues.
  • Understand all QEHS policies, especially those that are inherent to the facility's Safety & HACCP program
  • Performs minor painting as directed and other cleaning, sampling, and QEHS inspection tasks as assigned.
  • Able to operate forklifts and other cleaning equipment and be familiar with Dust Collection systems.
  • Is at all times alert to and strictly adheres to safety, environmental, and quality control requirements. Strictly observes GMP requirements. Is familiar with the plants' HACCP program and how it applies to his/her job.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently or in a group environment.
  • Assist in the mitigation of hazardous material incidents
  • Attend and participate in professional and committee meetings related to health and safety issues.
  • Monitor site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements and report any deviations to EHS Manager, Quality Manager, or Facility Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager, Quality Manager, Production Manager or Facility Manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High School diploma required.
  • 1- 3 years of relevant experience
  • Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills
  • An individual should know Spreadsheet and word-processing software to perform this job successfully.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hi-visibility apparel, gloves, etc.) and additional arc-rated apparel as needed.
  • Works with varying ranges in temperature and humidity. The environment has a fair amount of noise and dust.
  • Some work must be done around moving machinery and equipment and around energized power cables.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend a ladder safely.
  • This position requires the employee to stoop, twist, bend, reach, climb stairs, work off platforms and/or ladders, work on grated areas, and lift up to a maximum of 65 lbs.
