POSITION OVERVIEW:

Ensures that state and federal regulations that guide English Language Development are met. Tracks and maintains all English Language students enrollment for each school year at all Arizona campuses. Provides professional development to campuses and oversees the implementation of EL instruction according to state law. Supports the academic team by taking on special projects related to academics. This position may require travel to campuses from time to time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Holds the position of the Arizona AZELLA District Test Coordinator and serves as the liaison to the state of Arizona with all matters related to AZELLA testing.
  • Support out-of-state EL programs, testing, and instructional best practices as needed.
  • Creates and implements training for stakeholders to ensure that AZELLA testing is appropriately administered at school sites according to state regulations.
  • Tracks completion of all EL testing training, secures Arizona district-level test security documentation, and monitors test completion.
  • Maintains and manages EL database and updates the Student Information System with EL-related data.
  • Supports teacher endorsement programs to provide sites with opportunities to have EL-trained teachers.
  • Conducts weekly and monthly EL desk audits to ensure student testing and enrollment accuracy.
  • Manages all EL enrollment and testing data and communicates to appropriate sites and stakeholders.
  • Provides training, observations, and feedback to campuses in EL compliance and instructional support for administrators and teachers.
  • Creates and manages charts, documents, and reports on student yearly EL data documents to track longitudinal data across the network.
  • Works with the Assessment Coordinator as needed to coordinate alternate assessment protocols.
  • Assists the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and other academic team members with data collection activities, as needed.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned by the Director, Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Education, Licensure, or Certification

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Two or more years of experience in an education-related field
  • ESL, SEI, or Bilingual endorsement preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations surrounding EL preferred.
  • Knowledge of student information system, PowerSchool preferred.
  • IVP level one fingerprint clearance card required.

Work Experience or Related Experience

  • Demonstrate a strong command over written and verbal communications and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with strong attention to detail. The ability to plan and set short-term and long-term goals, adjust priorities, and oversee EL compliance at multiple campuses across a large geographic territory.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with individual groups and desire to be a team player.
  • Client support via email or phone.
  • Eager for feedback and growth within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

BACKGROUND CHECKS:

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
  • Local and in-state travel required.
