Job DetailsJob LocationOmak - , WASalary Range$20.23 - $20.23 HourlyDescriptionCLOSING DATE: Open until filled, with bi-weekly reviewsPOSITION: Elder Care AssistantSALARY: $20.23, per hourREPORTS TO: AAoA Services CoordinatorLOCATION: Area Agency on Aging; Omak, WashingtonBasic Functions: This is a non-exempt position. Incumbent is responsible to provide services which may range from information, assistance forms, guides and refers clientele in need to the appropriate human service which may possibly alleviate that specific need. Acts as community/ district liaison for case management purposes, developing, implementing and monitoring a comprehensive combination of services to help clientele maintain independence in his/ her own home. Include MAC/TSOA liaison and case worker for the service area.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Training:
  • Requires High School Diploma/ equivalent AND twenty four (24) months of experience in working with senior citizens OR formal training/ education or paid work experience demonstrating an understanding and following written/ oral instructions accurately
  • OR completed two (2) years post-secondary training in gerontology or related human services field.
  • Requires a valid Washington State Drivers' License, must be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance, and must maintain throughout employment.
  • Requires a CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Requires physical fitness clearance by physician to work with vulnerable adults.

  • Requires knowledge of support services available in the community or within a 100 mile radius of the Colville Tribe's Administrative headquarters.
  • Requires knowledge of first aid/ CPR.

  • Requires knowledge of health and social services resources.
  • Requires skills in oral and written communication.

  • Requires the ability to perform data entry into data systems for reporting and reimbursement.
  • Requires ability to make independent decisions, prioritizes assignments, and organizes workloads.
  • Requires ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with other agencies or other professional affiliates.
  • Requires ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
  • Requires ability to develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive plan for clientele.
  • Requires ability to provide information and assist clientele in retrieving and filling out forms for the correct Human Services departments.
  • Requires ability to understand and follow through with both written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Requires sufficient hand-eye-arm coordination to use a keyboard and 10-key plus arm/hand movements to retrieve work materials and operate a variety of general office equipment.
  • Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers.
  • Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations over the phone and in person.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Requires ability to push and pull, reach with hands and arms, frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
