Senior Caregiver Needed: Companion Care for Mother in Vancouver Location: Vancouver We are seeking a compassionate and experienced caregiver to provide companion care for our 80-year-old mother in her home. We are looking for someone who has experience working with older persons that have cognitive decline and can keep an eye on her to ensure she remains safe and healthy. She is mobile & can perform personal tasks, but she requires assistance with some daily tasks and accompaniment with taking walks. Transportation is required. Number of hours per week: 15-30. About our mother:In March of this year, she had an acute UTI that has resulted in cognitive & behavioral impairments. Prior to this, she lived independently, was a math professor at a community college, and was very active. She loved to hike & be in nature. Medically, she has a recent history of low sodium, recurrent UTIs, and a heart condition known as afib. Her memory and awareness have declined over the past 6 months. She still has her good days but also can be challenging (e.g. anxiety thought loops). On these days, she's unlikely to recognize symptoms related to health concerns due to her mental state. Caregiver Responsibilities:• Companionship: engage her in conversations, take her for walks, offer emotional support • Meal preparation: prepare healthy snack / meals and ensure she eats & drinks regularly • Shopping: transportation & assist with grocery shopping, errands & other necessities • Light Housekeeping: help maintain a clean & organized living space If you have experience with caring for individuals with cognitive decline and want to make a difference in someone's daily life, please reach out with questions and submit your application.
